Liverpool council are threatening legal action against the Premier League, if they proceed with plans for a 5.30pm kick off in the derby match on February 7th

Cos it's a stupid idea that will almost certainly end up with drunken fighting.

The majority of footy fans will be out for either the early kick off or 3pm kick offs so they can watch them with their mates pre match. That means come half 5 there'll be a shitload of fans who have been drinking for a good few hours.

I'd love it to happen & go off with no trouble, obv, cos I hate lunchtime or Monday evening kick offs for big matches, but it's almost a cert to end up with trouble at that time.

I just want to see a good bust up. Hopefully Premier League will have to pay fans back some dosh for insensitive scheduling practices. Start piling up cases of lost earnings, fights, and other problems cause by poor scheduling. I know its stupid but at least its some action.

You say that, but the cost of that could be some poor bastard losing his life after a pissed up prick hits him too hard.
Plus, the premier league wouldn't ever dare admit liability or even countenance the idea by paying out.

Exactly, though I'm not sure that's what Lucas meant he wants to see. It wouldn't come back to bite the FA on the arse, as we well know, it would be the clubs that will get the brunt of it. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that's half the thinking.

They still do and probably always will.

This won't be exclusively about policing the fans who go to the ground, there will be all of the bars in the City full of fans who have been drinking all day watching prior games and then leak out into the streets afterwards all boozed up. Takes a big police effort.
