Diogo Jota - died in car crash RIP

..... As for Liverpool hitting pause on a strategy because someone died. Are you fucking mental? There's clearly a billion quid strategy being played right now. Jota didn't feature in it. Twenty other first team squad members do. They have one chance to realise their dreams, and no event will or should be allowed to stop that momentum. It would be disrespectful to assume the club would prioritise one iota of its ambition over the responsibility to the current playing staff because of a horrible accident that no-one could have predicted.

And surely Diogo would be going mental if he thought the lads were distracted? Winning is what he lived and breathed for and imo he'd want them to go out and do their very best again.

As for who attended. Half the squad were due back Fri, the other half on Monday. I'm guessing the guys due back Fri could gather and get to Portugal together for Saturday. The ones not back in Liverpool yet could really struggle to get back at short notice, especially if they don't feel happy leaving their families to get back alone.

I'm surprised Kloppo didn't appear but maybe he doesn't want to tread on Slots toes. This is the biggest test of anyone's managerial skills.

I only go to funerals if I'm ordered to. My brother is on the other end of the spectrum, he's looking them up in the Echo and Craigslist. I don't give a fuck how people grieve, even if they grieve. I think more about my lost buddy Bam, a bulldog, than my parents. Who knows how to deal with death?

People in this situation were literally on the other side of the world with their family having their only holiday of the year. I don't blame them at all if they couldn't charter a jet in time - or didn't want to.

Also, I think the whole coverage is verging on people's princess vibes. People die in car crashes. A friend of mine who did well from nothing bought a Porsche when he suddenly made a lot of money and within a few days he was dead. Oddly we were both 28 at the time. I didn't make the funeral because it was all very quick and he lived in Northampton and that's a fucker of a place to get to. It's very sad but if you're young and full of testosterone, maybe do sports cars on the track, or on your playstation.

This is beautiful, have to with guilt admit that I also do not like attending funerals and to this day I only go when my parents order me to and I am 50 !!!

I know it's going to be unimaginably tough, for some players more than others, we just have to clear our heads professionally and focus on winning and being as competitive as we can be. Easier said I know. I don't want it to be that we've got a ready made excuse for failure, and I mean that with the greatest respect, Diogo wouldn't want that and as a club we have to show resilience and be strong for each other and out of respect for Jota and his family, we have to make them proud and when/if we come to celebrate something, we make the influence of Jota a huge part of that.

Not that it really matters, but Police have released that Diogo probably the driver and it was exceeding the speed limit. No surprises to anyone who the wreckage.

The only good that can come from these events is that it might get a few drivers to slow down who otherwise wouldn't. Senseless stuff.

Hopefully at least a few of them come to the realisation that a Volvo is a better choice.

Speed limits are not what are actually suitable speeds for a particular road though, they are usually quite arbitrary and based on location and number of lanes (e.g. 20mph in some areas in Wales are ridiculous, 50mph on the Westway going out of London or the A550 bypass by Queensferry for around 2kms - both of those with 3 lanes either side - nuts. But then you can drive 60mph down one lane country roads (Wales, Devon, Cornwall etc.) that would challenge a mini !

With the handling and stopping power of a Lambo those speed limits make even less sense. However a blowout when overtaking on a narrow mountain road is likely to result in an accident no matter who you are or what brand the car is.

I've only ever had one blowout (in a sports car) - it was shocking at the time, a massive BANG then my massive rear tyre went rolling past me - luckily I was driving in a straight line on a 10 lane motorway, very early morning with little traffic and under the speed limit (100kph) ... I just ignored the brakes and let it roll to a standstill whilst crossing the other lanes as carefully as possible.
