Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko has claimed Chelsea have spoken to his agent over a possible transfer.

The highly-rated Bosnian has been linked with a summer move away from Volkswagen Arena, with a number of sides credited with an interest in his services.

Dzeko, who has netted 25 Bundesliga goals this season, has suggested Chelsea have enquired about his services, although he would favour a move to Serie A.

"I know Chelsea want me and they have already spoken to my agent," said Dzeko in the Daily Mirror.

"But my dream is to play in Italy, with AC Milan or Juventus."

The 23-year-old Dzeko is under contract at Wolfsburg until the summer of 2011.

From F365's transfer blog,

A new name for Manchester City from the Manchester Evening News is Edin Dzeko. The giant Bosnian striker has just been named Players' Player of the Year in Germany after scoring 30 goals in 33 games for Wolfsburg this season.

Such a move could be scuppered by the player himself, who said this week: "Talks on a new contract with Wolfsburg are currently underway. If I get what I have asked for I will most likely stay there for another year."

Manchester United assistant Mike Phelan rates Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko as "ideal for the English league'' and has hinted the Red Devils could consider a move for the player.

Edin Dzeko has hinted he would like to move to AC Milan next summer.
Dzeko, 23, has attracted interest from teams in Spain, Italy and England, with United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal all linked with him in recent weeks.

But the Bosnia forward had repeatedly hinted that his preferred destination, should he move from Germany, would be Serie A side AC Milan.

The striker scored 30 goals in 33 appearances to help Wolfsburg lift the Bundesliga title last season and has 11 already this campaign.

Dzeko scored against Sir Alex Ferguson's side when the sides met in the Champions League earlier this season and Phelan has admitted the club have been looking at him since.

"I'm sure there are a number of teams looking at him. Are we one on them? We are looking at talent all of the time and we are in there with the rest of them,'' Phelan said.

"He showed his threat in the game at Old Trafford and he appeals because he is a tall, skilful boy and in some ways he is an ideal player for the English league.

"He has stature, his feet are good and he is producing some good performances. I am sure everybody has looked at him.''

I'm confused. It says serbian at the top of the article, yet bosnian in the article.

This inconsistency makes me fret not about my beloved edin going to the cunts

Edin Dzeko did not have a fun Friday. Not only did his Bosnia-Herzegovina side lose their Euro 2012 qualifier against Romania 3-0, but he also lasted just 64 minutes and missed a few good scoring changes before being subbed off. Oh, and he got kicked in the crotch and face at the same time. Turns out curling up in a fetal position around the ball is not the best tactic if you're looking to protect those two areas.

😛

Painful!

What a let down he's been, he might be better next season but seriously, I thought he'd be brilliant.

Ha. I missed that part. Anyway, it was a horrible team performance. The defence was all over the place and midfield was non-existent. Waste of time.

Dzeko has been pretty anonymous in his first six months but I wouldn't write him off just yet.
