With Hodgson we were skint. But he replaced good players with shite like Konchesky and Poulsen. Which didn't help. The football was shite also.
But Slot is going through a similar phase of shite results, but hes coupled it with making good players look bad. Thrown players under the bus. Ignoring those on loan. Promising he'd play the youth then nothing. And the football isnt that much better than the dark Hodgson days.
Do I hope Slot makes me eat my words? Absolutely. But I can't see it. He's out of his depth.

He was. Loads of stories about how he acted towards journos, players and staff. Maybe he was less of a cunt the older he got, but he was a prick.
Similar? Slot has a win percentage of 60% only bettered by Klopp (63%) in the history of our great club.

I want a new manager as much as the next fan, but I cringe at all the shit thats thrown at Slot these days.
Managers will still be evaluated for the total though. The negative development is why he will get fired in the end.
It's hard to really know any more. The results tailed off when Salah tailed off. It's hard to not think that this is a Rodgers/Suarez situation and the league papered over a lot of structural issues

So discount that first half a season. Take it from 2025 onwards vs Hodgson who lasted less than half a year.

Of course it makes sense, there has to be a period of transition from one to the other. So lets put it this way, essentially we were better when we were transitioning than when we became "Slot's" team. Or are we not Slot's team yet and is this on Klopp? There's no "narrative", the further down the line we've got and the further away we get from what Klopp left, the more we've got shitter and lost our identity.
Okay, so when the new manager comes in this summer, lets say Luis Enrique. If he wins most his games the first 6 months its down to the stellar work that Slot actually did, but if he loses most of his games its down to Slot really being completely shit.

Fwiw, I know most of us as fans have short memories but there were loads of stories, reports and interviews regarding how happy the players were with training and playing style during Slots first season. The more interesting thing here is what the fuck actually happened. He seems different, the team is different and the mood overall with the players is off and different. That's a case for a science project.
Klopp left a team that was in good shape generally and that continued. It's not the same as Slot doing shit and then someone coming in and doing better, is it?

Obviously it's not that cut and dried, but that's the basics I'm going off here. It's easier to assess Slot 18 months in - first 6 months was good, next 12 months was bad. Factor in the measure of influence across the 18 month period and assess where the peaks and troughs have been.

In addition to that, in Klopp's last season, we got 82 points I think and finished third. Last season under Slot, we got 84 and won it. He didn't preside over some huge improvement. Everyone else just got worse. Just like how this decidedly average Arsenal team is going to walk the league because we have the fraud in charge.
With regards to the Hodgson comparisons, I hated the old owl twat, but there's no doubt he had significantly worse players. The job Slot is doing with this current squad is equally sackable.
We have a tough run of fixtures coming up. We've been on a dismal unbeaten run against a load of shite teams. I'm not expecting much in the next 5 or 6 league games.

53.8% would have him 7th according to my quick research.
The team was generally in good shape, but it was also a team that lost 3-0 at home to Atalanta, 2-0 to Everton, 4-3 to Utd and had 5 wins in our last 13 games in Klopps last season. There was nothing in regards to the tail end of his last season to suggest that we would be top of the league and top of the Champions league going into Christmas with the same squad.

Yeah, which again is a negative for the new manager when takes over.
Had the players known that this could have been used to win an argument on SCM in 2026, I bet they would have turned up instead of being on the beach for the last 4 league games after we won the league so that we could stat pad up to 90 points.
