Holding his knees either injured or blowing like a pensioner who had to try and run for the bus. It was a bizarre sub.
I was fucking fuming at that. It was purely tactical, you could see. Why was he even pushed that high when Chelsea had that midfield. It was reverting back to “the midfield that won the league” to only play them in a way that they didn’t actually win the league.
He wasn’t at fault for our result, but Anthony Taylor is abysmal. He’s inconsistent and tends to get shit loads of decisions wrong. Pull back on Gravy, yea that is fine and carry on. Bradley? Here’s a yellow. Ball played straight to Mo with the defender trying to ravage his back door, go for it lad. Chelsea player falls over CANNOT HAPPEN FREE KICK. Midfielder goes equally strong into a tackle and only makes contact with the ball? YELLOW YOU ARE LUCKY THIS ISN’T A RED LAD.
Playing midfielders in defence when you have actual fucking defenders on the bench. Just fuck off. Fuck right off. Taking of Kerkez for no apparent reason then watch Robbo not follow the ball/man for their winner. Fuck off even more. I’d fucking bring back Matip on a free just to bomb Konate out of the team the useless prick.
Macca. The bellend shouldn’t be playing and now we have no excuse to tell him to stay at home for two weeks because we keep on playing him. Watch him get injured on international duty. 5 months out is my guess.
Playing a 10. This will only work if you have a high functioning midfield base, which we can’t because Mac is half dead, and willing wide players which we do not have because Mo has the legs of Oscar Pistorius without his prosthetic limbs and Gakpo has the intelligence of a reality TV star.
Isak isn’t fit and we decided to play him ahead of our actual fit forward who has bagged great goals for us. Isak had a good run out against Gala and should’ve been an impact player yesterday.
Mamardashvili was quality though. I can see us getting shit loads of counters with his throws. It’s a shame we haven’t converted one since Mane was in his prime.

There was a moment in the second half that highlights our biggest problem for me.
Chelsea had the ball in their own half, we had 5 players surrounding the Chelsea player. Yet he still managed to play a pass through us and they got through on goal. Not one of our players attempted a tackle. Szobo saved us in that moment.
Slot hooked Quansah for not winning enough duels in his first game as manager. This season it seems he doesn’t care about this anymore

You need to have a manager who puts his faith in youth for others to see that. Rio’s career is going to quickly dissipate with this bald fraud in charge.

The last bit about better choices in attack is basically it, that is what ultimately cost us. After we scored they were there for the taking & any half decent team would've carved them open & finished them off, just like Brighton done last week.
Our execution & decision making when the game opened up was shocking. Also Chiesa not coming on after what he's been doing this season when given the chance was just awful from Slot & starting with 2 bang out of form wide attackers was just awful too.
Yeah, I could not believe what I was watching, it was pure comedy, I was shouting at the TV, that player had basically half our team on him and he still managed to thread that ball through, when I think about this game that moment will haunt me, and I am surprised no one has mentioned that incident as half our team looked like complete fucking fools in that moment.
Just for context, We have been’t been very good for more than 3 games…
Wasn’t angry or frustrated when I posted it and is an option waiting add not a serious one for now but it’s 3 loses in a row and counting so also bear that in mind.
Klopp lost more on a bad run more post covid season but it was something he recovered from season after and was capable of playing great football for most of his 9yr reign. He also, didn’t have his handing 500m worth of new players in a single window.
I see others have started this but from reported numbers, around 400k last time I checked.
Don't forget losing 6 times at home on the bounce ! Still incredible today.

This is not all on the manager. Sure he's (or should we say the coaching/in-game analysis team) going to make some mistakes (he's only human) however that ignores the fact that players such as Macca, Mo, Robbo and Konate are making such basic errors that can't be accounted for.
To a degree it's unfathomable that these top pros are making errors such as passing a 10m ball straight into touch (VvD) or Macca straight to an opposing player standing 8m away from his intended target - it wasn't even close !

Slot is also adjusting to the new players he has at his discretion. He also needs to find out how best to put this jigsaw puzzle together and how best they will work with each other. He'll make mistakes (as he did yesterday) but I can absolutely give him that time - he's earned it.
Terrible, pathetic performance highlighted by the failure of the most expensive light players, king Salah, and the useless Wirtz!!!! Whereas the two game changer players Chiesa and Rio were kept sitting on the bench? Who both should have been introduced in 60 minutes?

I do believe he had thought that his average squad is a world beater! This shows how this manager is so wrong in his inept assumption!! He is an average second grade manager, a double of highly rated Kloop!! Perhaps some fans are asking now for Klopp to come back? What a disaster will it be? Awful and disgraceful show!

I think this is a valid point. My guess is that Slot sees how it all fits together, but that it can’t happen all at once and is struggling with how to make the changes incrementally.
I also don’t think the vision is for a huge change - new formation, etc - but some new patterns of play with new players and the initial steps are not working.
I don't think the current formation works with the new players he now has. He lacks the 11 to play current formation it feels like. Not convinced anyway.
Not sure. It still may be “4-2-3-1” or “4-3-3” or whatever he likes to call it, but I think it will be a different variety. I do not see us changing to 4-4-2 diamond or no diamond, although that could be useful from time to time.
