Post Match EPL Fulham (A) 2-2 Sunday 4th January 15:15

I'm not sure what else he could have done TBH and I thought the subs were fine. That wasn't the issue.

Yes I said the same but he HAD to come off. He had had a slight twinge, he hadn't rained for a few days before the Leeds game and he was blowing.

Curtis was playing LW and was replaced by Gakpo there. No problem with that. Chiesa went to CF and was to press, no problem there either. We had an extra defender on, that should have been enough.

To go CF?! Everyone complaining he doesn't get enough minutes and he's a senior Pro.

Honestly, I'd have bought on Nyoni - so you have a CM in there for pressure etc, or if you're running with Chiesa in the 80th minute, start it when he took Wirtz off.

Curtis was part of the middle middle 4 imo.

We’re battling for 4-6 in the PL. It’s our transition year with hopefully a cup (please be CL). The sooner everyone sets their expectations to this the better it’ll be.

This is where my expectation is. And i don't think we're good enough. Chelsea will come back stronger with a new manager, and i can see us dropping down if newcastle get their shit together (more believable than us getting ours together)

Remember lads, we were missing our two strikers, and an aging, yet high impact egoistical super-star who can be a great super sub

All I'm saying is our mini crisis currently has us in forth. While missing key personnel, and a team that looked much better second half. I'm hoping sideways-slot ball may be evolving.

Fulham were missing the core of their midfield at afcon and more than competed at times. I know what you are saying because this team lacks tools and when they were on the pitch (frimpong) they made the difference.

It isn't this game though. We started last season with a bit less frenetic energy but with a memory of how to press at times and the core of klopps build up play. We then became quite defensive and resolute, but uncreative. Since spring of last year we've been playing much the same way, we started this season trying slot 2.0 and he couldn't make it work. What we are doing now is an even further necessary reversion. I see pieces of signs of what could work in this team.

I don't see anything that suggests we are pushing on from this style of play and developing something that could actually win anything. That's the next step. Consolidate and build. The building isn't happening. If you see something that suggests it is, by all means tell us, but I don't. I remember thinking games flew by. Now they last for fucking ever. Even if we need a goal. Its not football.

I can see Chelsea and Newcastle having ups and downs throughout the rest of the season. It’s who can stabilise the best and currently it’s us.

Thank you @localny for counteracting the miserable negativity in this cesspit of negativity

I was losing faith mate, and at half time, I was kind of resigned to this manager failing. But the second half was more impressive. And missing our strikers as well. There's a lot of positives going on as well as negatives. And Konate was brilliant in that 1-on-1 situation too. Someone slagged VVD for letting that ball go in - which hit the bar. What was he supposed to do? Add 2 feet to his height in an instant?

I thought we were better going forward in the second half that before. While not really being as shakey at the back as we have been. Without our strikers, we hit the bar twice and had a disallowed goal. And then two goals. I felt there was less of the sideways ball. I even saw Curtis and Kerkez (could be the name of a pub?) being more progressive.

Perhaps it's an aberration, but I felt away at CC, with our current form, this was neither a terrible result nor a poor performance. We were unlucky not to win. I think it's unwise to be negative on this performance.

This is when I left, still in the pub. Great late win for the reds, and our tactical genius in charge.

Oh come on. If he hadn't brought Gomez on everyone would be saying 'why not bring Gomez on for 2 mins - we were winning, no need to go for more, shore up the defence. And Gakpo had played 98 mins. I have no problem with the sub.

Maybe with the fact no-one went to him but the chance of him scoring from there - a player who's now only scored 4 times in his life - was 1000/1.

It is just our luck at the moment, 2 offside goals, 2 x woodwork and then that.
Everyone? I have been complaining about us dropping deep with a lead all season - and it has cost us all season. As soon as I saw the sub, I felt we were conceding.

First off sorry to hear about your father @Farkmaster. Awful time of year to lose a parent.

As for the football, more of what we’ve come to expect, controlling large portions of the game, difficult to beat but lacking attacking impetus.

However considering we couldn’t buy a point or a win a few months ago 9 unbeaten is a decent run in this league even if Arsenal will most likely beat us comfortably Thursday.

Great to see Wirtz scoring again.

Great to see Gakpo score again.

Great to Frimpong with another assist.

Great to see us fight back after going behind away from home missing our two strikers.

Unlucky to concede a worldie at the end.

Bringing on a CB after taking the led late in a game is a very common tactic so that was fine and it’s absolutely natural for players to retreat and look to hold on when your are 6 mins into 7 mins of added time away from home.

I tell you what is depressing, reading the match thread. People actually swearing when we score and calling our manager a cunt on repeat.

The lack of respect is disgusting for our second most successful manager in 30 years.

Some of you need to take a break from football until either Slot turns it around or a new man comes in.

Finally, I hope Salah goes out of AFCON tomorrow and is back for Arsenal. We need him badly!

People are fucked off with this cowardly manager blaming the opposition for having the temerity to score the chances we gift them. So yeah, a bit of colourful language is appropriate
Respect is earned. Yes he won a league (carried by your bestie, rather than through some kind of tactical acumen), but he's still behind rafa who worked with a much worse squad, under much more of a difficult era.
We'll play worse when salah is back, as the biggest critiques of our playing style is how slow and ponderous our wing play is. Salah will not improve that.
I don't believe anyone needs to take a break from football. Perhaps we're allowed to care about the direction of the club and be appropriately dismayed by it. Red tinted spectacles can only get you so far.

So winning the league doesn’t warrant respect when so many others came close over and over but couldn’t get it done? Rightio.

Not slagging the manager off every 2 mins hardly means you don’t care about the club.

At this stage (and my view hasn’t changed this season so far) he deserves time to see if he can get us back to the top.

Will he get us there? Fuck knows. Does he deserve the chance to without being called a cunt and to be bombed out of the club at every turn? Absofuckinglutely.

At this stage I expect him here at the start or next season but let’s see what the next 6 months bring.

Respect is earned. Going on the piss for 2 months after winning the league isn't it. Alienating and freezing out players isn't respect. You can be a cunt and win a league you know?

Manager gets slagged off when he deserves to be slagged off. Every single manager has gotten than for as long as football has existed. Don't be getting precious about it now.

He deserves time? Hes had time and he's changed nothing. He's not attempted to change anything. We've gone from freefall to a slightly slower descent. Thank christ everyone else in the league this year fancies being fucking dopes as well.

I didn't realise Slot was a poster and could see we were calling him a cunt. If he's that thin skinned that he can't take criticism then he's in the wrong field.

He probably will be here at the start of next season (mores the pity), but thats not some indicator that he's going to turn it round

We are not winning the Cl. Yes, crappier teams have won the CL, like our 2005 team, but that team had heart, desire, focus, and a manager who was pulling rabbits out of the hat on the touchline on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. We have none of the ingredients.

we might win the cl but who’ll still be watching us play in may? i was nearly in a coma by half time today
