Game against the Scum

That Scum Bus will be towed today. Its all about our intensity and keeping our heads. We got this. An early goal will settle the nerves and open up the game.

Feels like a more massive game than it really is. I'm also bricking it.

Can't decide on whether to get the brother in-law and go for a beer. Or just have a normal night at home with a stream.

My decision could make or break the performance of the team.

This is true. Make the right decision mate.

Our players are setting us up for a fall by the sounds of it. All we need is one of them to come out and say we're going to win the league. That usually does the trick.

Utd are turgid and over-reliant on set-pieces, so obviously they're gonna come here and win.

I'm not sure why, and I know they don't play that way, but I can see them coming out tonight and pressing us. I just don't think they'll sit back and try and long ball us for some reason.

Reading this post has now got me convinced there will be a blitzkrieg of aggressive, attacking football from United, and a commentator declaring "Well, many people expected Mourinho and United to sit deep and frustrate Liverpool, but they didn't read the script!" or some such bollocks.

Oh, I hate this fixture so much. Add in how much I hate Mourinho, and the allure and promise of a good start to the season, making us favourites to win this, and there's a perfect recipe for disaster.

Yep, we've been here far, far, too many times; with both United, and Mourinho. I'm going to hate every second of this match.

Yeah, it's going to be purgatory. I'll probably only relax if we're more than two goals up and there's less than a minute left.

And the players all starting to make stupid preemptive comments about how well we're doing & how we can beat them.

In the 1-4 game at OT I actually went for a drive in the first half after Ronaldo scored the peno and (with periodic checking of the radio) only came back to watch as Gerrard was lining up the peno to make it 1-2. This game drives me to distraction and with Maureen there, if at all possible, it could be worse, and it could reach a fever pitch tonight.

It does remind me of a few games against them when they've been really struggling and everyone was expecting a Liverpool win. Only for us to lose.

There's been quite a few of them over the last few years.

In the past though, it was 'there's no reason we can't beat them in this form' sort of thinking. I was kind of like, you'd expect we would probably get gubbed but don't be surprised if we win folks! Maybe. This year it is 'we are going to win'. It is properly positive.

Yeah, the upsurge of the quality of their team, with the addition of the reviled Mourinho, will elevate (wrong word, possibly) this far beyond anything we've seen since Baconface was there. Plus it's an evening kick-off. It's going to be poisonously electric.

Not only is this fucking shite

Yep. The stars have got to align. And it's not just you, if I move an arm or switch on the AC when we are doing well .... then naturally we will immediately concede. I'm sure there are lots of others here that can and will influence the match too .. and we all have to make the right decisions for it to come off. Principle of Reciprocity and all that.

As Brendan just pointed out though, that attitude hasn't helped us in the slightest the last few years. Whenever we've looked like we should be favourites we've fucked up.

I like the players to be positive, but I'd also like them to be more respectful. Regardless of how United set up they have a bunch of players who are capable of performing. We need to be at 100% to do that & in no way thinking that we can win just by turning up, which has been the attitude far too often in the past.

But I think our whole problem has been we have been too respectful in the past. We never expected, deep down, to beat Fergie's Utd. Oh the players might talk, but they never really believed. They were just flapping their gums and making positive noises. This team believes 100% that they can beat fucking anyone. Utd? Yeah, we should beat them. Good.

Yeah, we've had a couple of splendid wins - the 3-0 under Rodgers, the Europa Cup last season - but there's been far, FAR more bad games against them in the last four or five years in the Premiership; we've lost the last four games against them on the bounce, and lost 8 out of the last 10 league games going back 5 years.

Indeed that is how I see (read) it. Thank you Herr Klopp.

We expected to beat them under LVG though. And never did.

Hang on. We buried them 3-0 at OT in 13/14 ... what was the Anfield result ?
