The source seems dodgy, but maybe there is something to this. I’ve added a poll with the only two correct options possible.

I’d obviously like to have Jude or whoever in right now but if that’s really not possible then there’s no harm in this at all.

@rurikbird - both options are shit as it implies we are really not interested in getting a midfielder in this transfer window, which I think we need. To be honest I don't understand all this hype about Jude for next season and all what that means - for England he is good only against fodder if that, and most of me don't get the hype surrounding him. Also how has Jude become our only option when we were in for Tchouameni - who is a totally different type of midfielder ? - what the f*ck is that all about and Jude being 18/19 or whatever - is a huge leap of faith on our part.

Getting back to Gini - if he is the only person we can afford then I guess we know what we are getting, but there is the risk that he is not going to be the same player he was given the little playing time he has had at PSG, and also the fact that he is going to be older. But we do need a player capable of covering for Fabinho/Hendo - and I guess with him we know he can fill in those roles. Seriously though, we needed an athlete rather than adding to our ageing midfield. This whole transfer window is turning out to be a joke.

Seriously, man? We’ve signed a shit-hot £80M striker, the best young attacker in the Championship and a talented Scottish right-back and got Diaz earlier - that’s all a “joke” to you? Maybe some fans deserve to be brought back to the times of Voronin and Konchesky to remember what it was like…

Yes in many ways it is a joke, especially when you start to mention these under 21's we have signed and are stopping our spending this transfer window because we want to spunk away a shed load of money signing this potential English talent for next season - who will still be under 21 years old. I have high hopes for Nunez, but our initial priority which was to get a midfielder is something that should have remained a priority this transfer window. We have a world cup this year, so think about the hyper inflation to any transfer fees for next season. I just wish Klopp and our Transfer team would do their usual magic of getting a player for 30M-35M for our midfield - one who has great potential, and turn him into a world-beater, if anyone can then Klopp can. There has to be an abundance of talent for midfield out there between the ages of 23 - 25.

What did we spend on them? 10m? 2 potentially good Players for around 10m now + addons down the road if they work out. Wouldnt. Really call that a shed load now would you and as has been pointed out Diaz was signed in January but money came out of summer transfer funds so should be counted as a summer transfer....

I was responding to rurikbird regarding the signing of 3 players, - in my mind we have signed just one major - the others are too young to be taken as serious signings just yet - even if they turn out to be gems. The Diaz signing - yeah I hear you but again you have to question why last season after all that suffering and shit we only signed Konate and no one else ? - really do you think it was good enough ? - No - that Diaz signing was a late signing that should've been made last summer, and we did need him in the end given AFCON and our long season. Again this idea that Diaz was being planned for this summer is something I just don't believe.

I like Gini and was firmly against letting him go, he was a huge part of our success under Klopp. That said I'm not sure signing him now makes any sense even on loan, unless we are offloading Keita.

DAMN IT - IT’S NEARLY THE END OF JUNE AND WE HAVEN’T SIGNED A GAZILLION NEW PLAYERS!!!!

WE’RE DOOMED!!!!!!

HOW WILL WE EVER COMPETE!!!

WE’LL END UP STRUGGLING ON ALL FRONTS LIKE LAST SEASON WITH OUR WEAK SQUAD!!!!!

He is the idea stop gap option - knows the club, knows the system, pretty fit (not injury prone) and might have a point to prove (+to “redeem” himself).

Signing a player like him on loan will also probably mean the likes of Morton and Clarkson can be allowed to leave on loan.

If you refer to the fixture schedule on the Premier League Fixtures thread, it’s pretty packed and we can’t rely on a midfield with players of Tiago and Keith’s injury record to see through the entire season.

Tempted to say he can go stuff himself, but I didn't want him to go in the first place and we could do with him so, on balance, yes.

I don't see the harm in adding a extra quality player to midfield. Especially one that knows our game. I assume we'd not get shafted on wages either as PSG would pick up some of that.

I have nothing against him. He is a good player.

However, I don’t quite understand the logic. Either we need another midfielder or we don’t. If we do need one now, don’t be so tight and actually buy one.

Spent the Friday night in Paris having dinner on the table next to Pochettino. We were drunk. We swung our napkins over our heads and sang the Gini song and asked him why he never picked him. He was suitably impressed.
I'd have him back for the season for sure.
But Klopp never goes backwards.
Never going to happen.

It’s about now in Gini thread that someone points out he’s like “a different player for Holland”….

…. something something…. Nunez…. Something something…. New 4-2-3-1 formation….. something something…. Would unlock Gini’s talents.

one or more of Momowasboss, Woland or Holle will the tell the poster to fuck off.

Someone will then post a shite utube video of him passing backwards at Liverpool and the thread will die…

…. but only after the of the special posters suggests something stupid like playing him at centre forward or something equally stupid…

Hopefully this move things on a bit.

Thats a good point. Dont think Klopp will go back for someone who has left either, but it would makes sense to get him in if we cant get our nr 1 transfer target until next summer.
You get a player that knows the club, the players and the system.

But, instead, I can see us just keeping Ox for one more year and then go with the same midfield as last season.

Ox is a waste of space though... and Klopp seems to think likewise because he never picks him.

If there is no one we think is worth the money and we don't want to shell out for a stopgap, this seems like the ideal solution.... unless the departure was acrimonious.

Gino would only agree to a loan if he was guaranteed to start, and that’s not happening. So he’d be moving from one bench to another. Never going to happen.
