Have we really spent our money well?

here's where everyone agrees with me. people should remember that dreamy was right as well despite the abuse he got.

But to answer the question:

I actually don't mind Adam.

Henderson = too much
Downing = good player but expensive
Carroll = too much
Suarez = excellent
Enrique = good price

What about me?!

Where was your thread after the Bolton game, Anita?

Enrique is class

Suarez is class

Adam is decent enough

Coates looks capable

Downing expensive but capable.

Carroll is the only signing that's really disappointed so far, for me anyway.

Adam was a good buy as were Suarez and Enrique.

The rest is such a painful waste of money. To think what we could have spent it on.

completely agree with this. Adam should be a squad player though.

the 70 mill on the other three should have bought 2 world class players.

The whole Carroll situation reminds me so much of Crouch.

With the only difference that Crouch cost less and looked like he gave a fuck.

This. The forum is plumbing new depths of knee-jerkery today.

People bemoaned Rafa for his 4 players for x rather than 1/2 for X approach.

The same probably can be said for Kennys.

Enrique is class
Suarez is class.

Adam - decent but should be in the starting 11 ?
Caroll? - No
Henderson - No.
Coates - Not at the moment

So you've got £60 odd million spent on those 4 there and none of them should be starting at a club who have ambitions of winning the league, although again, people seem to think we could've snaffled Aguero et al - fucking wake up - they wouldn't have come here.

the players bought gave us our best start to the league.
we're 4 games into the season.
wait till the end of the season before making a judgement.

Henderson brings nothing to the team, apart from his goal he's been a passenger every match and hasn't made any meaningful contributions, also massively overpriced at 20m

Downing, what's the point of buying a Left Winger if you're not going to play him on the left. Wouldn't get into the Man Utd, City or Chelsea line ups.

Adam, not good enough at this level, was absymal vs Stoke and poor today.

Man City midfield over-ran Modric/Krankjaer, two light weight, flimsy, flair players. Yet they dominated our midfield today. Should never have sold Meireles

Hardcastle, I said clearly at the time that Carroll was a huge mistake, Ive always said I didn't want Downing, I said Henderson was someone I was indifferent to but we should have never spent £20million on him.

I haven't changed my mind of any of the above.

the spurs game hadn't finished 😉

Strikers:
Aguero (who I've always said I've wanted)
Llorente (who wasn't open to a move in Jan but was in the summer)

Midfield
Martinez ahead of Henderson all day long
Young- we missed out on cos we were too busy chasing Carroll
Meireles- we should have kept

Too right. But wait for the "what if they didn't want to move here?" reply.
I'd like to add the Italian as well.

The money was not spent well and most if not all the posters on the forum agree with this as far as I can see.

There are those who were/are advocating (bleating on about) spending the Carroll money on Aguero and the Downing money on Mata. I honestly believe we did try and were told to piss off by Aguero and Mata (or their agents) because those players didnt want to come to a club in transition and trying to get back on the rails again. They wanted to go to a club that will pay them more and offer more in terms of playing at the top level.

Disagree, most here called it the best transfer window ever!
And I got a lot of stick for calling it decent.

let's not bring up aguero or mata, both went to teams that pa higher wages than we do and are also in the CL. okay, stratch the CL, that makes no difference whatsoever with regards to a players choice.

Personally I don't think so ......we spent alot of money on players who all have questions marks over whether they can really cut it or make the step up to the level required. Ok every transfer is a gamble but surely when you spend some of the figures we did , you should know that you are getting the real deal . With alot of our recent signings you just don't know.

is that defo right? all the noises at the time were that mata would be open to a move here...i honestly think downing was our first choice. agree about aguero, he was neve realistic, although possibly Llorente or someone like Higuain was?

I thought it didn't matter how much we spent so long as we got the right players ?
