Poll If we sold Lucas would you...

I keep reading people say they don't think he as anymore improvement left in him. Did any of us see ANY improvement in him at all? I don't think anyone would of guessed the amount he has come on in the past season. The amount the lad has improved has been remarkable, I don't think any of us can safely say he won't improve some more.
Having said that I would probably let him go for 20 mil. Not to another prem team though.

Oncy - IMO it's a bit optimistic to say we'll sign our targets regardless. FSG are clearly prepared to invest, but are equally clearly (and rightly) determined that we'll live within our means. Every player has his price. £15 mill, never mind more, would be a damn good one for Lucas.

Ruairi - the reason I doubt there's much, if any, improvement left in Lucas is that I don't recognise the picture you draw of him. His improvement was from a pretty low base, and IMO hasn't taken him to the kind of heights you describe. It's turned him into a steady plodder, NOT some kind of galactico. If he'd had that kind of potential it would have revealed itself by now.

Lucas - 38 games for Gremio 120 games for Liverpool 3 goals. 12 Brazil caps.

If Jordan Henderson sells for 20m as does Jones.......then why would we expect less money for a better, more accomplished player.

There are numerous young defensive midfielders out there who we could replace Lucas with. We may have to top up the pot a little to afford them, but if we could get someone with the physical attributes to play the role, we'd be well on the way to upgrading the squad.

Apart from the fact that the hypothetical fee we've been discussing is £15-20 mill.so that's what I was referring to, even the £10 - 12 mill.would take us at least halfway towards an M'Vila or a Matuidi to name just two, a gap FSG would be a lot more willing to close than they would be if they had to stump up the lot.

Firstly, this is a hypothetical debate. We wouldn't get £15m for Lucas, but the thread started proposed a scenario and we are all playing the game.

Secondly, I clearly stated that we would need to top up the pot (ie transfer funds) to afford one of those players. So your question is redundant.

Lucas plus a few million for any one of those players would be a fucking bargain.
