I didn't see the match, but I've heard reports young Jack Robinson was good.

The lad is only 17, but will be 18 in September. Does anyone think he's ready to be utilised in and around the first XI?

If he is, we can pretty much guarantee that Kenny will make use of him.

From what I saw last year he is a great prospect, and a nice tidy intelligent player.
I think he is realistically going to be our main support left back regardless of if we bring someone in.

regards

I like the lad. Quick, strong and puts in the odd crunching tackle. He does need to work on his crossing though, let him down on a few occasions today.

Overall though, one to watch that's for sure.

I hope so. This lad isn't just a 'prospect' - he's ready for the first team now, and he's going to get even better.

Defensively sound, extremely quick, great work rate and commitment. I think he's going to be some player.

I hope Kelly gets plenty more time this season too, and Flanagan. It would be excellent if these players could at least establish themselves as very reliable squad players. I hope the policy in future is to retain as much Scouse talent as possible, even if they aren't necessarily world class.

We shouldn't only hang on to the absolutely top ones, players like Spud and Warnock would probably have served us better than some other players we got in after selling these ones.

I was very impressed with Spearing, too, in the latter half of last season. If it was up to me he'll be our go-to man this season for a player to get under the opposition's feet and break up play. We haven't got anyone better at this, and I don't see any point in signing another if we have a local player coming of age who has shown a more than reasonable capacity for this role already.

Neither Flanagan nor Robinson are ready to play regularly for a team potentially challenging for the title.
No way, no how.
Flanno and Robbo arent even at the same level as Kelly. Give them time. Granted they're both very talented players but we should expect more.
I say Enrique, Aurelio, Kelly, Johnson.

Jack Robinson is a good prospect and Flanno is just as good if not better. Both could be ruined if they are thrown in the deep end too soon. I say get senior players in and let them oust them.

So you want us to spend lots of money on full backs and hope that they are shit or get injured so that the young prospects we already have can get in ahead of them?

I don't see how you got that from his comment.

I think there are one or two that are underestimating Jack Robinson to be honest , he seems a pretty serious mentally mature lad to me.

[/quote]It's quite difficult to detect that if you don't know the person.

Part of me would be quite excited to see them given the chance to make the spot their own.

It wouldn't be undeserving.

That's fine. Some are advocating that Johnson plays on the left. Aurelio is naturally his backup and Robinson, well he's third choice again.

Oh yeah, and Aurelio is going to be in front of him for how many games exactly......do me a favour Modo, if he was a horse they would have shot him by now.

I bet Aurellio does not make it through pre season without an injury - care for a little wager?

Which would pretty much make Robinson second choice to Johnson then.

Aurelio is the worst player you could ever have for back up. You need to be at least slightly reliable for that.

But he's in the squad isn't he. He might get injured, I'm sorry he most likely will get injured and in that case I'm all for Robinson being Johnson's back up.
I'm sorry if you misunderstood me. For me he's always been third choice. My point is that he's not ready to play regularly.

and I think he could be, possibly more than Flannagan to be honest, and I bet he gets more games than Aurellio

Aurelio is already injured isnt he?

Don't think Kenny will pick Robinson before a fit Aurelio. Even if he's only fit for ten games this season.
