Considering we got him on a free when he was a bit part player at City and almost 30, I didn’t expect him to get to 100 games

13 goals too.

From LB to RW to CM he’s been a great versatile addition on the pitch.

Not to mention he’s a model pro off it.

Hopefully he has enough in the tank to last the season at the level he’s started.

Is he our greatest ever free signing? Gary Mac is the only other one I can think of who would be in contention and while he was very influential for a brief period under Houlier he was more a bit part player. Milner has gotten better each year hes been at the club, last season he was arguably our best midfielder, and he looks as fit as ever, hopefully hes around for a few more seasons yet.

He played 44 and 45 games in his last two seasons for City, is that bit part in Australia?

He’s immense and I hope he plays on for a long time.
Sets a high standard in both training and games with his attitude and effort.

He was also one of there best players in those years, nothing fancy or flash but consistently good.

Over half of those were off the bench and apart from wanting to play more centrally he said a key decision in leaving was to start more games.

On one of the podcasts the other day they said some stat about how since he got his senior debut he's never played less than 35 games a season.

That's just fucking insane. He's a managers dream. Can play almost anywhere & is completely dependable.

Yeah, he only started 28 league games the season before he joined us. But thats under half of the 60 league games we play each season right?

Dreamy's right, sort of.

The perceived default was that in finals or other big games at City, Milner would be the one to drop out, and even if he was man of the match, that would be no guarantee he would start the next game. He also didn't like being seen as the jack of all trades utility type of player, and thought he'd play centrally more often at Liverpool, and wouldn't get dropped if he played well enough.
