For 8 million.

Thought we needed a completely new (semi) groundless rumour to get worked up about over the weekend. Is this highly rated Serie A star really worth as much as Luis Alberto?

Among the protagonists of the promotion of Verona in Serie A, Hellas record new interest from England for Jorge Luiz Filho Frello. The Italo-Brazilian midfielder - better known as Jorginho (21) like the big Premier League, as reported by the expert Alfredo Pedulla market through their own blog, Liverpool have intention to make an offer of eight million pounds to Verona . The Chelsea left instead of the window.

Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their attempts to sign Hellas Verona’s Italian-Brazilian starlet Jorginho.

The 21-year-old creative midfielder’s full name is Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, but he is known to supporters by his nickname.

Born and raised in Brazil, Jorginho grew up in the Verona youth academy and has opted to represent Italy at international level, receiving one cap so far for the Under-21 side.

Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all sent scouts to view him at Verona, but Sky Sport Italia claim Liverpool are surging forward.

The Anfield side is proposing an offer worth £8m – approximately €10.5m.

Can play cm and dm.
We're selling Shelvey and Spearing. But if we sign this lad, will we let Hendo leave aswell?

Just seen his stats and it looks impressive that at the age of 21 (22 this Dec), he is already a regular at a promotion chasing side (that got promoted last season).

30 appearances in his debut season in 2011/12 and featuring in 41 out of 42 Serie B match last season. If our interest is indeed true (and firm) then it could be either 1 of Matheus Biteco (18 yrs old) or this lad.

Wanyama is of the same age (22 yrs old) and around the same fee as quoted (albeit slightly higher). Looks like we're looking for a young DM to cover/challenge Lucas rather than a direct replacement.

Having followed Verona on their road to promotion this year via many dodgy streams I have to say that this guy has never stood out for me, although that is not saying too much.
The only player that really looked above the rest for Verona was Halfredsson, a twenty nine year old Icelander playing centre mid who played for Hull I think about five years ago and was released.
Obviously if the lad comes I hope I am wrong but there isn't any of the Verona players that I would like to see us linked with to be honest

Quintero of Pescara. He is 20 and Colombian. He was a star in serie a this season, we should be all over him for that price. Instead will go to Porto.
going for 8.5 mil

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a €9m bid for Hellas Verona and Italy Under-21 starlet Jorginho.

The rumours had already emerged this week about possible interest from Anfield towards the versatile creative midfielder.

According to the latest reports emanating from Italy, the proposal will be made official in the form of €9m – approximately £7.7m.

Jorginho is 21 years old and of Brazilian origin, but spent much of his life in Italy and decided to represent the Azzurri at international level.

He grew up in the Hellas Verona youth academy and has one cap for the Italy Under-21 side.

The origin of the rumour is from Sport Italia journalist Alfredo Padulla: http://www.alfredopedulla.com/articoli/23863-esclusiva-jorginho-ora-il-liverpool-vuole-forzare

#Jorginho, ora il Liverpool vuole forzare

Newly promoted Verona have played down the seriousness of Fiorentina’s reported bid to sign Jorginho.

“Fiorentina did go in search of Jorginho, but they didn’t really start a true negotiation for him,” Verona sporting director Sean Sogliano noted.

Jorginho, full name Jorge Luiz Frello, is a 21-year-old who was born in Brazil but who has represented Italy at Under-21 level.

A product of the Verona youth system, he has also been heavily linked with a possible move to Serie A giants Milan.

“Milan are a great club and it is pleasing to be paired with them,” the player stated at the start of this month.

“But I am happy here. Verona is an important place.”

[article=http://www.tuttosport.com/calcio/calciomercato/2013/10/12-274437/Juve-Fiorentina%2C+duello+di+mercato+per+Jorginh]Juventus and Fiorentina are locked in the battle for Hellas Verona midfielder Jorginho, reports Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport.

The 21-year-old footballer has caught the eye of top Italian clubs during his time at Serie B and he has continued to impress since Gialloblu returned to the top flight.

According to Tuttosport, arch rivals Juventus and Fiorentina are considering January moves for the highly rated midfielder, with Viola already in talks with his employers.

Chances are that Hellas Verona will be unable to keep hold of their prized asset in the winter, but they will not be selling him on the cheap, that’s for sure.

Jorginho arrived at a club as a youngster and has spent last seven years at Verona, making a total of 80 senior appearances and scoring 7 goals in the process.

His current side have enjoyed an amazing start to the Serie A campaign, and they are 11/8 to record third straight victory against Parma.[/article]

[article=http://www.football-italia.net/40581/jorginho-london-arsenal]Reports in the Italian Press claim that Jorginho and his representatives have been in London to speak with Arsenal.

Several outlets have insisted that the Hellas Verona man has been in contact with the Premier League club.

However, FirenzeViola believe that nothing official has come from the meetings, meaning that other clubs have a chance of signing the youngster.

Fiorentina have been heavily linked with the 21-year-old and will be lifted by the news that potential Arsenal links have seemingly stalled.[/article]

[article]Mattia Cassano went through the back of Toni to give Verona a penalty on the hour mark. Jorginho converted low despite Pavol Bajza getting a hand to it.

Rafael kept Verona on level terms by punching away an Acquah strike, but Hellas were awarded another penalty for Marco Marchionni blocking Jorginho’s path. Jorginho converted it himself to complete his brace.[/article]

from 0.21 onwards

[article]Two Premiership clubs reportedly sent scouts to watch Verona midfielder Jorginho on Sunday afternoon.

According to whispers in the peninsula, both Arsenal and Chelsea had representatives at the Stadio Bentegodi yesterday.

The youngster, born in Brazil but available for the Italian national side, is catching the eye of bigger sides.

Although he scored two spot-kicks in the 3-2 win over Parma, boss Andrea Mandorlini wasn’t too impressed with his performance.

“I think he played his worst game of the season,” the tactician told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “I changed his position more than once because he was struggling.

“In the end I decided to not replace him and perhaps that was the right decision…”

Jorginho’s second penalty came in the 87th minute.

Milan and Fiorentina have been paired with the 21-year-old in the past.[/article]

[article]Verona boss Andrea Mandorlini accepts that the club is likely to sell his best players at the end of the season.

The newly-promoted Gialloblu have been a revelation this term and the 3-2 win over Parma means they have jumped up to fourth in the standings.

However, Mandorlini knows that some of the architects behind their rise will be sacrificed when the big clubs come knocking for their jewels.

“I know, only too well, that it will be hard to keep the likes of Jorginho and Iturbe,” the Coach told Radio Anch'io Lo Sport on Monday.

“However, behind them we are already allowing others to grow and mature.

“We are making use of those youngsters who, for the time being, are given little space but who will have an important future for this club.”

While few are surprised by Jorginho after his development in Verona over the years, forward Juan Iturbe has impressed after spells at Porto and River Plate.

“Iturbe has joined us from an important club,” Mandorlini added. “He has an incredible talent and quality.

“He’s doing really well in a difficult championship.”

Iturbe has two goals in four Serie A games so far this term.[/article]

But it mentions in that article that they have an iturbe who played at river plater and porto !

A Russian journalist who specializes on Serie A said this about Jorginho (translation is mine):

"[Jorginho] has remarkable physical attributes; he runs a lot and doesn't get tired much. Not surprising - he only weighs 65 kilos with 180cm height. He simply recovers faster than heavier players. Started all 10 games [this season] and only in one game he was subbed for last 7 minutes. He may look skinny, but he's a real athlete. Secondly, he is decent on the ball. Good passing, technique, and quite a good shot. Even his scoring numbers have improved this season - 4 out 5 his goals were scored from the penalty spot. Thirdly, he is a hard-working, disciplined midfielder. And a good example of a versatile player - he can defend as well as create opportunities for teammates. And he is not a "brutal" player - it's important for a player in his position. As for making it in a top club - just the interest he is generating seems to suggest that Jorginho is ready. It's another matter that he will not get into the starting team right away; he will have to fight for the place. I hope Italy invite him into their national team as soon as possible."
