I think - £30-40m on a MF in Jan - fuck this clown Arthur off back to Juve.

If we can land a decent MF on a free - great, happy with that.

We need a statement signing next summer - whomever that may be - but a good one.

Who's Arthur? I thought he died?

Why Konrad Laimer should go to Bayern, we don't need another Naby

What are the names you'd get in Jan, if we don't get top 4 you can forget about the £150m.
Douglas Luiz, Tielemans, Ascensio, Houssem Aouar and Alex Max Allister would all cost less than £10m each.

I don't have any specific players in mind. Stop wasting time chasing players like Bellingham and Tchouameni.

Go back to the beginning of the Klopp era and focus on the profile of players we targetted - Mane, Salah, Robertson, Gini. Players who can run, have physicality, and technique, can press all day, and are ready to explode in level within a year. And most importantly, are available day in and day out.

Don't try to fight for players with Madrid, City, or Chelsea. The type of players we bought were the ones who were not quite on their radar. Go back to those unorthodox left-field signings that no one saw coming.

To me, the Thiago signing is where we took our eyes off the ball. I do acknowledge that he has put in some of the finest midfield displays ever seen at Anfield. Not Thiago's fault, but we should never have added one more injury-prone aging midfielder to a coterie of injury-prone and aging midfielders. For the fee we paid and his wages, we could have bought in someone younger and would have been better off this season.

I came here to type something very similar. Somewhere we lost our desire to find potentially world class players for under £40m and we need to rediscover that to rebuild the squad.

Thiago is well worth the £20-25m, though. We signed him in part because we wanted a new way to win games, via maintaining possession better and be less reliant on the running and pressing. Had we had properly replaced some of the likes of Keita, Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson and Chamberlain i.e, the engine room of the team, then Thaigo would be under less scrutiny. If you look at our win ratio with and without him then I would argue he's easily been worth the outlay. The issue is the stagnation of the supporting cast.

That's a very good point, and it's true, but if you are a player who has those qualities why the fuck would you bother playing for Klopp and his fucked up system of fuck8ng you up with injuries, and shortening your career with all that running. That's why we need donkeys.

Best idea , get the 3 best midfielders from the championship, for less than 50M, and we have our players. By best I mean the ones that press resist and have a lot of running in them. We can call that the 3 donkeys.

They want to play for Liverpool and win things with Klopp, that’s the pull and they probably think they’re invincible anyway.

But you’re right the ones that have other options often don’t come us but it’s probably as much about money as it is about the hard work they’ll need to put in. It wouldn’t be any better under conte for example would it?

We need the lads like Bruno Newcastle signed, very good, very affordable and not a lot of competition.

I think Neves would transform our midfield, and would settle very easily given our Portuguese contingent and his time under Pep. By the end of this season he'll only have a year left on his contract, so that should put us in a decent negotiating position.

Mac Allister also seems like a sound choice. He's young, he fits the bill for a Klopp midfielder, he'll cost nothing and if he continues his ascendancy then we'll have an excellent player on our hands for years to come. And if not, no big deal.

Beyond that, I think another central midfielder in the Fabinho mould, a wide forward, and a central defender would be my thinking. Assuming that Trent's understudy looks the business. I agree with others that we're better off focusing on hidden (or unproven) gems here than we are shopping at the top end of the market. I'll leave it to others to root them out.

So FSG are cunts and this season is fucked.

Let's pretend that it's next summer, Henry forgets his wallet in Liverpool and we have a 150M "war chest".

How do you sort this shit show out?

I will play

Musts:
A number 8 - Jacob Ramsey from villa. 65 mill?
For Thiago - Tielemans is affordable and solid enough on the ball and defensively. (Enzo Fernandez probably too expensive.) 25 mill
For Fabs - I don´t know. The lad from Brighton looks boss, Caiceido is it? but might be too costly. 60 mill?

Extras if we sell and get cash:
RW to cover for Salah, but we could play Elliott and Gordon there.
A support striker to take over for Firmino, but could be that Carvalho could be that player soonish.
A fullback that can cover both sides, like James Justin

Giz a job

Yea the fabs successor / rotator is pretty essential the near future, I’m worried he might be an ‘old’ 29. The highlights binny posted of Morton looked really impressive and Bajetic might be decent but they’re just way off being ready for the role.

Both interesting prospects though. Hopefully squadies at least, with time.

Tielemans is going to be such a coup as free transfer pick up, isn't he? Seems to have been around or a long time but still only 25 yrs old.

Alexis Mac Allister is a good shout

View attachment 2389

Tottenham, Alexis Mac Allister set the second-highest record for touches (137) in a Premier League match 2022/23. In addition, the midfielder is the only one to have two games with at least 14 ball recoveries in the current competition. Tireless.

Refreshing to see 2 Brighton players amongst the others from big clubs

His value may have grown too high (and within a club that has no need to sell) but top of my hypothetical list with £150m would be Bruno Guimaraes. They paid 37m last summer, maybe they'd sell for 60-70m, and for me that is a better investment than the same amount for Declan Rice.

Midfield overhaul
Guimaraes - 70m
Tielemens - free
Caicedo - 25-30m

CB evolution
Tomori - 40-50m

Dependable RB option
Matty Cash - 15 - 20m?

This is about 30m over budget but assuming that some sales take place to cover that.

I like nearly all of that, but I think you're undervaluing. Guimaraes they won't sell for less than 100. They're rich and they don't need to. Caicedo will probably be 50-60.

Real Madrid are appaz interested in him and Newcastle have said he isnt for sale. It will take a monster bid and him throwing his toys out of the pram.

Caciedo and Mac Allister are both excellent. I'd sign them.

Caciedo is only 20 years old but so insanely good already. Controlling the game, always making the right decision even at 20 years old and constantly winning the ball. He'll become an absolute superstar.

Newcastle isn't a selling club anymore. No chance that we're pulling a "Hamann" on them again.

Yeah there's no way they're selling him. He's exactly the type of player they needed to build a team around and they've got all the money in the world to do it

Yep, sadly it's a club we can never buy a player from like ever again. Those days are gone for good. If anything we will need to protect our assets from them.

Nonsense - I’m sure they’d be willing to sell generational talents Ryan Fraser, Jamal Lewis and Sean Longstaff to us in a heartbeat!!!
