So FSG are cunts and this season is fucked.

Let's pretend that it's next summer, Henry forgets his wallet in Liverpool and we have a 150M "war chest".

How do you sort this shit show out?

We need recruits in Jan
Douglas Luiz or Danilo (or both)
Alex Mac Allister
Ascensio
Summer spend £110m on the Napoli player and a Homegrown RB someone like Max Aarons.

Ndidi for £60M ish. He's bound to be desperate to leave Leicester and would offer a lot more protection for our defence. He's also currently injured so would fit in well with the rest of our team.

I think making the team a bit more solid should be our highest priority at the moment.

We need 2 CBs, a RB, a LB, 3 midfielders, a RW and a CF.

If we sell Joel, Virg, Robbo, Trent, Fabs, Thiago, Hendo, Salah & Nunez, add what we get to the £150m, we should be able to raid Norwich, Brentford and Dundee Utd for replacements.

I remember you telling me at the start of the season that I was crazy about the number of signings I was suggesting and my fear if we didn't get the signings we wouldn't get top 4.

I am kind of relaxed at the moment because the results will continue to be a mix bag, the good thing is we have a world cup break a month from now, and I think about 2 games before the transfer window opens up. I expect Klopp to address the short comings and buy new players With so many decent players being available for cheap, I expect the club to move in on them. Top 4 is the priority everything else is a bonus.

With the right players I expect we can go on a 10-14 game winning run

We need to look for the opportunities, just like Everton picked up a half decent central defensive pairing for close to nothing….yea you know things are going badly when we’re looking to Everton as an example

There absolutely has to be some ass kissing going on behind the scenes with soon to be out of contract players. Personally I don’t want Laimer or Tielemans if possible, I can see Luiz happening and maybe that McAllister guy.

Unfortunately I think we’re going to face serious competition for the big Center mids in the summer, particularly with Chelsea and City who have several ageing / contract expiring / wantaway midfielders.

Aside from free agents the other place we might get value is from relegated sides and hope for another Gini but I’m not seeing much at Forest. Plenty of talent at Leicester and Wolves, obviously Wolves have Neves and the new guy they signed and there’s a handful of fairly obvious targets at Leicester but who knows how much they’ll ask for and where they’ll be in May.

Luiz, McAllister, Neves - 60m
Shakhtar lad Mudryk - 40m? (Can he play on the right?)

We need commanding players with legs and fight.

Ideally get Kante on a free, Valverde and Bellingham or Llorente, and then a goalscoring winger a la Gnabry or Kudus. Then a RB capable of battling for a place such as Justin from Leicester.

Milner into the coaching room, Hendo to the bench, Salah with competition to play more effectively

Before doing that, I would say we need to fix the tactics first. Fire Klopp and replace him with David Wagner or Angie Postecoglou.

No problem with any of that except Kante, he’s donezo

I don't have any specific players in mind. Stop wasting time chasing players like Bellingham and Tchouameni.

Go back to the beginning of the Klopp era and focus on the profile of players we targetted - Mane, Salah, Robertson, Gini. Players who can run, have physicality, and technique, can press all day, and are ready to explode in level within a year. And most importantly, are available day in and day out.

Don't try to fight for players with Madrid, City, or Chelsea. The type of players we bought were the ones who were not quite on their radar. Go back to those unorthodox left-field signings that no one saw coming.

To me, the Thiago signing is where we took our eyes off the ball. I do acknowledge that he has put in some of the finest midfield displays ever seen at Anfield. Not Thiago's fault, but we should never have added one more injury-prone aging midfielder to a coterie of injury-prone and aging midfielders. For the fee we paid and his wages, we could have bought in someone younger and would have been better off this season.

Remember that time we hated on Rafa when he wanted to sell Xabi and but Gareth Barry…

We should hate on Kloppo because he bought Thiago instead of keeping Gini the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Just in case you missed the fact I wasn’t being entirely serious while suggesting we sell 9 players and but 9 new ones ….. I WASN’T BEING ENTIRELY SERIOUS!!!!!

You weren't suggesting we should one player were you either? My guess is you want 4?

2 midfielders - ideally one in Jan and one in the summer - then the following summer we sign the Salah replacement.

that would have us going into next seas with X, Y, Hendo, Thiago, Fabs, Jones, Elliot, Morton & Carvalho, with Badger-Tits either also involved or out on loan.

The only other pressing question is about Nunez - stick or twist. I’m 50/50 on him at the minute.

We can strike out Bellingham - been talked about too much.

No Danilo - Rated on this forum means we will never buy him

No Caicedo - Mwepu is gone so Brighton won't sell.

Frankly, if we could get Douglas Luiz or Neves it should already be way beyond my expectations. Maybe Danny Drinkwater? He's premiership 'proven'...

Alexis Mac Allister is a good shout

Tottenham, Alexis Mac Allister set the second-highest record for touches (137) in a Premier League match 2022/23. In addition, the midfielder is the only one to have two games with at least 14 ball recoveries in the current competition. Tireless.

Get it all out in used fivers, spread it on the gym floor in Kirkby and roll around naked in it. OBVIOUSLY

Stick with Nunez. We won't get any decent amount for him.

We lose Ox, Naby, Milner, and Firmino in the summer. We need two midfielders and a striker by next summer. And hope that kid Ramsay proves to be an adequate backup for TAA.

I would firstly sell Kelleher, Gomez and Jones. The three are fairly saleable, and should generate 50 million.

I'd target a young CB, preferably someone who can play LCB. We need to start succession planning for van Dijk and Matip - at least one of them is going to rapidly decline soon, and we don't want to be left with nothing behind them. Someone in the Saliba or Fofana mould - strong, pacy and full of potential. I don't know who that is, but there are plenty of talented young CBs around.

Midfield I agree with @peekay that pursuing someone like Bellingham will be a waste of time. Even if we did have a chance of landing him in competition with Real or City, it'd take blowing our entire transfer budget on him, which would just be an inefficient use of our very limited resources. Caicedo would probably be more gettable. Someone in that mould, and someone who's more defensively oriented frankly. A free transfer of someone like Macallister or Laimer is probably also needed. Don't think we'll have the money to buy two 50 million midfielders.

I'd also want a versatile young attacker who can play across the front 3. With Firmino leaving next year, we'll need a replacement. I think Darwin will eventually come good, but with Firmino's departure, we'd effectively be left only with Darwin, Jota and Salah who can play centrally. Diaz is probably best suited to a free role, Carvalho is too young and Salah of course will decline. I'd target someone in the 21-25 age range, someone who has a track record of a couple of years of first team productivity already. Kudus at Ajax looks good.

You're right, with all the players I have suggested, Klopp isn't going to go for them, though I had two right so far, Nunez and Fab C. Nuned and Laimer, we were strongly linked and interested in.

With Danilo, I don't expect Klopp to go for him, he is however going to be way cheaper than the Ramsey's, Bellingham and Barella's of this world. The Brazilian leagues window shuts in Jan.
I think the Georgian from Napoli should be our top target in the summer alongside a RB.

Let's say something like this (the players can change):

Benoit Badiashile - 35 million
Moises Caicedo - 50-60 million
Konrad Laimer / Macallister - free
Mohamed Kudus - 40-50 million

That's about 130-140 million. You could generate about 50 million through sales, and that's doable.

Benoit Badiashile - 35 million Its Monaco, so you're probably looking easy £50m
Moises Caicedo - 50-60 million They've already said they won't consider offers below £100m
Konrad Laimer / Macallister - free Really don't need another crock
Mohamed Kudus - 40-50 million I like him a lot, at the start of the season we could have got him for £10m

It's really simple, this game, as its a Klopp team, you don't need to look for football brain, or skill, you just look for the best donkey players out there who have Intensity coz that's out fucking identity.

Any of you who think of fancy mids that may just want to make a run through the middle because they can because they have skill well hate to tell you , that ain't a Liverpool player. Before you say it we doing a great job turning Thiago into a donkey.

Klopp doesn’t like actual donkeys though he always seems to ask for hard running and press resistance™

That’s been the case with Lallana / Gini / Fabs etc, even the ones he didn’t sign only survived because they didn’t shit their pants when pressed.

Not against it - but we’ll probably need to spend big on a keeper if we sell Kelleher.

I sometimes feel like FSG are more worried about keeping the wages budget in line than the transfer outlay and see transfers as more like something that can be spread over the course of a contract - so maybe with Milner, Ox, Keita & Bobby off the wages bill - we can sign four players and balance the fees with wage savings.

Maybe… I dunno.

That's a very good point, and it's true, but if you are a player who has those qualities why the fuck would you bother playing for Klopp and his fucked up system of fuck8ng you up with injuries, and shortening your career with all that running. That's why we need donkeys.

Best idea , get the 3 best midfielders from the championship, for less than 50M, and we have our players. By best I mean the ones that press resist and have a lot of running in them. We can call that the 3 donkeys.

I agree about the Bellingham approach. I do think we have a chance of getting him but it would cost a fortune and in the end the limited funds we have should be spread out to cover our needs.

Selling Gomez, Jones and Kelleher could be a good move. I doubt we'll sell all 3 given we are already losing Ox, Keita (possibly) and Firmino. Jones might be the most likely to stay.

In terms of young CBs I'd like to sign Strahinja Pavlovic for Red Bull Salzburg. 21 years old, 6'4 and has all the qualities you need to be a top top CB. The way he dealt with Haaland and Sørloth when Norway played Serbia was insanely impressive. Pace, great in the air and hard as nails with great passing ability.
Indoctrinated in the Red Bull way of playing is also perfect for us. Signing him directly from Salzburg would see the fee being pretty decent as well.

In midfield I think we need to make one free transfer signing to stretch our funds, maybe even 2 given what is out of contract in 2023.
Alexis Mac Allister would be a great signing. Has really stepped up this season and is still only 23 years old. Will slot seamlessly into a 3 man midfield. Konrad Laimer is the other free transfer that could be available, but Bayern might be his destination.
Caciedo is the obvious choice as well. Fee might be 50 mill but he has been really impressive.
Enzo Fernandez woud be a great signing but I'm guessing we'll be priced out of that one.

The most important thing is adding someone who can control the tempo and set the tone in midfield, Mac Allister, and then adding physicality, intensity and energy. Something that we are really lacking this season.

In attack Dango Ouattara seems really exciting. Will have only 1 year left on his contract next summer. Sign him up!
The one that really stands out though is Youssoufa Moukoko. Generational talent, 17 years old and out of contract in 2023. Latest reports from Germany seems to be that he is reluctant to sign a new deal.
Do everything you can to get him if he decides to leave Dortmund.
