LFC vs Man City (Unoffy thread)

Sahin would have had to be registered by 12 noon today if he had any chance of playing. At least thats what I thought
....and even if he was signed in time he would hardly be match-fit yet. My line-up was an attempt at a cathartic exercise to expunge the negativity from last weekends mess. My point being that we do have a "front 6" now to challenge the best teams and when Sahin is ready I would love to see us try that line up.

That line up with Lucas, Assaidi, Sterling, Kelly, (and Agger back in for Carra) etc as subs would give us every chance of a top 4 place.

I don't think we do yet Pesam. We still need a top class striker. Carroll just doesn't cut it in that line-up. And we'd need another good option for the right as well.

I'd take Suarez, Carroll, Gerrard, Borini, Allen & Sahin ahead of most midfield/forward line-up in the EPL. It's difficult to compare it to United's City's and Chelsea's but it's a good enough 6 to compete on an equal footing with them.

City
Toure
Rodwell
Silva
Nasri
Tevez
Dzeko (Aguero when fit)

United
Scholes
Carrick
Valencia
Kagawa
Roony
VDV

Chelsea
Lampard
Mikel
Mata
Hazard
Ramirez
Torres

Liverpool
Allen
Gerrard
Sahin
Suarez
Borini
Carroll

If you want to argue that Carroll lets our 6 down in terms of quality (I don't agree btw) you could also argue that Mikel, Carrick and Rodwell are, similarly, weak spots.

Ah OK. And how would one line up if we had, say, a Huntelaar in the team ?

Ha, I was just wondering how we'd line up with a proper goalscorer in the team Gene.

Pesam, while we do seem to have some good attacking players, we don't really have any player that will score enough, or as a group they won't score enough. I appreciate that you're trying to be positive, but we still need a striker that can score.
When Huntelaar signs we should be sorted though.

My spidey-senses are twitching!

Huntelaar would be more suited to the line-up than Carroll for sure. For the record I rate Carroll highly and I would love to see him being given a chance. He's obviously on the way out though and, as i mentioned, the line up I posted would work better with a more more mobile forward e.g. Huntelaar.

Huntelaar was a player Robinho and i were championing when he was at Ajax. He's proven he can score, but I am not as confident in his ability as I used to be. He can still finish obviously, but will his lack of speed etc cause problems for him in England?

Can he get in the box and score Wizzy ?

I'm still struggling to understand how Rodwell walked into that midfield. Have they got injuries or something?
Last week I was uncharacteristically optimistic and went for a win. This weekend I think we'll get stuffed (I hope this reverse psychology tactic fools fate).
No Agger worries me.
Our lack of invention upfront worries me.

Please tell me the rumour is from a good source mate?

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the short run in the Premier League. The striker of Schalke 04 has not yet reached agreement on a new contract with the German club and Liverpool is planning a bid to bring the Orange International.
The Reds bought early 2011 Andy Carroll from Newcastle United, but the 23-year-old Englishman has failed to convince and is on the transfer list. At Liverpool would Huntelaar his former Ajax colleague Luis Suárez encounter, with whom he played over two seasons together successfully. The Hunter cost 20 million euros.

#Huntelaar (1/4) – One of the long-term YNWA regulars works with Dr. Ingo Westen' daughter's husband (I know) & claims that agreed terms…

#Huntelaar (2/4) – …on 3 yr deal. Schalke lining up a replacement. Sport 1 (Dutch) ran a snippet about this today here: http://t.co/pdmXjZRo

#Huntelaar (3/4) – British media and other online sources claimed we were in for him back when Suarez was linked with a move to Juve/PSG.

#Huntelaar (4/4) – A move for Huntelaar would make sense, at the right price, as he and Suarez played together at Ajax.

This would be fantastic news, exactly the type of player we need

We are more likely to beat Man City on Sunday by a clear three goals than we are to sign Huntelaar.

See how I am cunningly trying to get the thread back on track.

I mean, since we are basically Spain now maybe Gerrard can play the Fabregas Faux Nine role. He can still put the ball in the net when he gets a good chance. Then the midfield is Lucas, Allen and Sahin. With Suarez and Borini/Assaidi/Sterling on the wings.
