Liverpool related transfer speculation

None of us are basing our opinions on one game.
fair enough but everyone was poor and we knew beforehand that was going to be the case going into this game. Quansah I have called out and if the club gets a good fee for him, I wouldn't complain. If he stays I wouldn't be too bothered as lomg as we buy a really good CB that can challange/rotate with Konate and VVD

I’m not disapointed as it means fuck all and we’ve been on the piss for a week.
Of course we have...
You can convince yourself that they've all been drinking and partying for a week. But in reality it's probably been work as usual and the players who came into the team were just shit and didn't rise to the occasion.

Some of them are actually fighting for their their future at the club, but sure, I think Slot thinks it's all fine since the league is won.

I must have imagined seeing Quansah's looking sad after the game, he was actually jumping around and doing cartwheels because we won the league the week prior.

Yeah but I think many of us are disappointed in the ones who came in and didn't take their chance.
I think everyone was on a high. I think they should be allowed grace for this game and only this game. Hopefully next game we get a better showing!

You keep bringing this up Jules.

The context was that it was on a Bournemouth fan’s Q&A live stream during the January window and he was asked specifically about rumours he was moving to Liverpool.

I still maintain he was referring specifically to that window and nothing else.

There isn’t much else he could have said without creating an issue for himself.
Well, he didn't say so, and it would have been a simple matter to sidestep the problem altogether by just saying "I'm staying at Bournemouth". For the record, though, I rate him and will be chuffed if you turn out to have been right after all!

I don't get the argument about disappointment

We lost a football game that could actively impact us signing players.

We've been ahead of Chelsea for a long long time, yet we've missed out on a fair few players due to them. Now we're supposed to be fine we put in a shite performance, helping them get CL?

Cool.

It's the exact same shite as the psv game. We lost, changing the league table, meaning we ended up getting psg, rather than an easier draw.

That really isn't the point. Those that rarely played would have known this was a chance to make a statement - they didn't, they fell flat on their collective faces and that definitely isn't what they were trying for. There's no way those guys weren't giving it their all so the 'it means fuck all' and ' on the piss all week' excuses simply aren't the case for them.

I don't think so and you can't expect a team that have been crowned champions to perform at the same level as previously. It just doesn't happen. They will always perform a few percentages lower and that is enough to lose 3-1 against a team that need 3 points.
We lost badly to City after winning the league in 2020 and I read a stat that once in the 80s we lost 5 of the last 6 games after winning the league.
Its inevitable that there is a drop off.

Quansah scored an own goal and conceded a pen. If he wasnt unhappy after the final whistle in regards to his own performance. Something would be very wrong.

It might be a disappointment for those players that are playing for their futures. But as said above when the entire team performs a few percentages below their usual standard (which is normal) you get a performance like that.

I'm not disappointed as it was kinda expected. But I don't think Elliott etc helped his cause with staying at the club.

And we finished above them and dodged some costly bullets as a result. Lavia has been doing a great impression of Naby with those long absences. They paid £115m for Moises and so far, if they were to look to sell him, the best they would get is £60-70m. If you're upset with the way yesterday went, blame it on the club for being relaxed about how the players celebrated.
It was the same the last time we won the league, I swear Robbo was still drunk on match day.

Stop it.
Lavia still offers more than keita ever did, and has the benefit of being much younger.

Caicedo has been excellent for them since an initial adapting period.

Let's say them getting CL means they get Huijsen ahead of us, as he's a guaranteed started for them. Are we going to be elated?

We do not have the finances to compete with a team like Chelsea, like city, etc. We need to be maximising our appeal and doing our fucking damnedest of downplaying theirs. We did the first part by winning the league.

It won't. Chelsea will be located in London and offer 7-9 year contracts regardless of CL. They've spent and will spend gazillions anyway.

So why give them an extra appeal by allowing the CL football? Money does a lot for some player, but money AND top tier competition does a lot fucking more.

They can only do that long contract thing for so long before it catches up with them. It's probably already catching up with them.

I'm not sure I get this in all honesty. We wanted to rotate the team and we know from experience that performances will drop after winning the league. Its a given.
But now that we lost we should have done the opposite as it would have hurt Chelseas CL hopes?
Slot would absolutely not have that in mind.

Chelsea play Newcastle away, Utd and Forest away. They'll finish outside the top 5 anyway.

God knows. They seem to be hell bent on finding new ways to work around PSR. Selling the womens team etc.

If they're stupid enough to try to get round it by handing out 8 year contracts I'm gonna guess they'll fail at every other attempt too. It's desperate stuff.

Are you suggesting you are ruing missing out on Lavia and Moises over getting Lex, Sob and Grav?
If Huijsen chooses Chelsea over us, so be it. Huijsen isn't a game changer, there are other defenders which Hughes should have a list of. As long as Slot gets the right tools during the transfer window, I think we will challenge. So if he wants a CB, he should get one, if its not the 1st choice, then there should be an alternative to aim for
