Liverpool related transfer speculation

If we sell Gomez i don't think we sell Quansah. Least not this season

Can see us getting in a decent HG defender, but i've no fucking clue who

New Liverpool line up we will win games 12-7

I have never been a fan of Gomez. Aside from all his injuries I just don’t think he is very good. He’s not strong aerially, he gets bullied by powerful forwards, he loses concentration and he offers zero goal threat.

Now is the ideal time to sell. He is a 28 year old England international so must be valued at 30m+.

I haven’t seen too much of Collins but the bit I have seen he reminds me of a Stephane Henchoz type of player i.e. no fuss, just does the job without any frills.

If we are interested we should offer Gomez and Doak in exchange. Mbeumo is leaving so Brentford need a wide-right player and Doak has good potential.

Might want to use your fingers and toes when making these more complicated calculations.

I don't agree about Gomez, not entirely anyway. It's true he's not great in the air, but when he's on his game his pace and anticipation are of high quality, his versatility is mega-useful and TBH I don't care about goal threat from defenders - it's a nice optional extra but no more than that IMO. Replacing him with someone of similar quality is likely to cost rather more than we'd get for him too.

I like Gomez, particularly his versatility, but to state the obvious it's the injuries with him. They make him more or less useless. If a club is really gonna pay £30m for him then we should snap their hand off.

I have been wanting to sell Gomez for a while but look at how many players are leaving? It strike me of instability. They tie Konate to a long term contract and get this Brentford guy in - I am less concerned what we do with Gomez and Quansah.
it feels like a rebuild, more than strengthening now (when there are so many departures)

i’m all for continuity, experience, morale, example setting being considered when moving this squad forward whilst trying not to break what klopp very considerately built.

but being a senior squad member and a good guy just isn’t enough, there has to be moderate playing time or just availability to play. joe hasn’t been even semi frequently available to play for quite a while.

I'd be very happy with that, but he won't be cheap.

1 year left on his deal. Palace will want to avoid losing him for free, so there is a good deal to be done there.
I like him but he's a bit short for a CB in all honesty. Could be a good back up though and replace Gomez/Quansah.

Little know fact - Nathan Collins Dad was a trialist at Liverpool in the late 80.s early 90s.

He played for Cherrier, I played for Home Farm, and he was highly thought of, also as a Center Half

I heard his Grandpa was a big musician back when we were dominating the league.

Steven Gerrard punched a DJ because he refused to play his music.

Good point about the contract. As far as his height is concerned, because I rate him I've watched him quite carefully for Palace and for England and I haven't noticed him having a lot of trouble in that respect. He may not have been tested in the air too often, but then that in itself suggests the game isn't played that way as much as it once was. He's also a model professional and very much the kind of individual we need around the club.

I still think he'd be too much. Unless we do some mad deal and cut them a deal on our of our players I just cant see it

Probably around 30-35 mill I reckon with 1 year left on his contract. Palace will do well to get more than that.

At his best, no... but at the level we get on average, sadly yes. Shame injuries have really hampered his career.

If we can get a good fee then yeah, now is probably the time to say goodbye.

Gonna end up having to totally rebuild the defence at this rate.
I'm not against selling him. I'm just saying that despite his availability issues, he's going to be hard to replace. Just look at Klopp's last season. He played everywhere when Robbo, Matip, Konate and Trent were out.

Guehi is not going to sit on the bench and wait for Virgil to retire. Not many decent players will. I'm guessing we're stuck with Gomez who will no doubt be injured when we need him. Don't see an obvious solution.

We should maybe suggest that Guehi sits tight for a year and joins on a free next season when/if we lose Konate on a free.

He could take secret language lessons to learn Scouse and then delight everyone at the signing press conference by taking his earpiece out and speaking fluent scouse / though any questions he can answer in his normal London accent.

I'd say he's worth about £70m normally. Contract situation say knock off 25%, still leaves him at £52.5m.
A club like Palace simply can’t risk losing a major asset on a free next seasons, so I’d say they’re in a weaker position than if he was at a top six club.

40-50m I’d say…depending on competition for his signature…

I don't agree with the 'rebuild' comment. At least not a total rebuild, with Gomez and Quansah (also Nunez, Jota etc.) we are looking at squad players. Ready to replace without any disruption. Konate won't be sold - new contract or free.

With Kerkez, Frimpong (who may not even be a starter), Wirtz and a new CF, that is undoubtedly a stronger starting line-up. Marmalade another back up.
