Liverpool related transfer speculation

Seems like they want out. I do prefer to keep our most important players but in this example, we won the league and fine to rebuild with players who want to stay.
Just makes the commitment shown but Mo and Virgil even more apparent by finally signing those renewal deals.

Are they though, or is this based on speculation from people who have no idea what the situation is?

The “credible” information is Diaz is happy at Liverpool, isn’t agitating for a move and will see out his contract, while Konate is generally happy at the club but not with the structure of the deals he’s, so far, been offered.

Even that is going by “vague” statements from players - Hughes and his team absolutely do not discuss anything with the press - even the Darwin situation is quiet.

I think the only thing e can say with condition- no-one knows anything.

It's a bit concerning that we now have three regular players from a title winning team that want out, in Trent, Konate and Diaz. When we're winning trophies, and you're playing a lot, there shouldn't be much reason to leave. The management team don't seem to be doing a great job at keeping the most important players. One or two you can understand, three is becoming a trend.

We don't and can't know how many of these online rumours have any substance to them though. In principle I'd agree that we should move players on if they don't want to be here. In practice we just don't know how many (if any) of these players really do want to leave.

Yes, but my question is why so many seemingly want to leave. I understand fringe players will leave looking for playing time, but first team players wanting to leave is a reflection of the management.

Sorry but that seems to me to miss my point. You're taking it as read that they want to leave. I don't think assorted internet rumours establish that as a fact or anywhere near one.

If they want to leave (only rumours to go on) why do you think they're unhappy at LFC?

My take is that it can only be money.

If they wanted to leave to go to Arsenal, city, Chelsea, psg, etc I'd be more worried. Annoyingly it seems to be Barca and Madrid that our players want to go to. That's just a tale as old of time for a majority of players

It is no secret Konate has been in contract negotiations - nothing signed.

It is also no secret Diaz's father and wife have been posting things out of their own social media courting other clubs.

I'll much rather believe Elliot is happy at the club even though he is not being given the game time, than these 2 players who are given the chance and the opportunities at the club and are still unsatisfied. No smoke without fire and there are just too much smoke at this point.

I hope they are booted out quickly and players who want to be at the club are given the chances to play.

Shows both are absolutely legends who truly get what it means to play for us and be accepted as one of our own. Mo will be right up there in the conversation as our best ever if we can land another big ears and league title before he leaves.

Mo & Virgil where in contract negotiations for pretty much their entire last year - the fact Konate hasn’t signed doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not going to sign.

Diaz’s dad has always been a bit mental, so I wouldn’t read too much into his rantings either.

There’s a big difference to “not wanting to be at the club” and either holding out for a better contract offer or letting the club decide whether they want to listen to offers - neither player looks like they’re actively agitating for a move.

Actively agitating for a move is what Gyokeres is doing - we’re not looking at anything remotely like that - this is all just likely nonsense.

This is the bit about modern football I hate the most - the false equivalence of some clown on Twitter with an actual good journalist.

Take David’s Ornstein’s reporting on Diaz - we firmly rejected an approach from Barca over a month ago, player isn’t actively seeking a move (backed up by the players words), and we, like Konate are prioritising his performance value over anything else.

These stories don’t go away because, basically no one clicks on some YouTube content stating the have no information at all to talk about.

This is the digital version of drunken shit talking down the pub… only likely less accurate.

I think we're to some degree a victim of our success of signing very good players on relatively low wages.

Now they want a more appropriate number for their output and we're being tight.

We really should be making sure they stay, and maybe we are. Salah, Virg was similar wasnt it with us all tearing our hair out with no action...

I get the fact it may rumours but Diaz and Konate thing has been going on for at least a year or two. Pretty sure both would have been offered decent contracts over the last year to renew for their side and ourside to secure their resale value.
Like Trent, I don’t believe there is any intent for them to renew and stay. If Diaz does stick in a transfer request then what then? Does it confirm it’s more their issue then ours finally… It is strange after years of stability with Klopp and FSG, we have settled well played players looking to leave.

If we can get Guehi for a similar fee, then £43m is a decent deal. It’s likely we’ll also see Quansah replaced and possibly Gomez too.

The difference this summer is that when we rebuilt the midfield, it was our main focus. It was overdue and done largely on the club’s terms. This time around, there are several other areas still to address and the pressure is on us to make decisions. We’re probably now in a sell to buy phase. None of this is unmanageable, but it does mean we need to be flexible and ready to move quickly, with a lot of conversations happening at once. Letting Konate go only makes sense if we’ve got Guehi pretty much lined up. The same logic applies to Diaz, Nunez, and others. There are going to be some long nights ahead for Hughes, Edwards, and the rest of the team.

What’s really important for me is that players like Robbo stick around to help with the transition. We know how much Milner and Hendo brought in terms of setting standards and expectations in training and on matchdays. Right now, I don’t see many players in the squad who can take that on consistently. With all the new faces, having someone who can lead vocally and set the tone is going to be vital.

What is this cunt talk of Madrid now also wanting Mac10 ? It seems that they RM and BL under Xabi have still not gotten over how we dumped over them in last CL games and now want all our players.

As it stands now according to twitter

Outgoing

Darwin £55m
Konate £45m
Diaz £70m
Elliott £45m
Cheesy £17m
Morton £15m
Plus £52m from before

Incoming
Guehi £45m
Rodrygo £75m
Ekitike £75m

I reckon we get a net spend of £150m
