Liverpool related transfer speculation

[Julien Laurens] PSG has rejected two approaches from Liverpool for Bradley Barcola, one earlier in the summer and one on Wednesday.

It only takes a spark to start an inferno and that was the case when L'Equipe suggested recently that Bradley Barcola and Liverpool was a relationship in waiting.

Barcola is a wonderful talent, the kind of teenager who you can be sure will be making waves in the biggest games for many years to come. He more than played his part in helping Paris St Germain sweep the board last season.

The inference was that £100m would be the magic number to get PSG to do business with Liverpool, particularly if they had to admit defeat in their attempt to land Aleksander Isak (for clarity, you need it: they haven't).

There is no doubt Barcola is recognised as a fabulous player by Liverpool's recruitment team
- a blindfolded man in a pitch black room with no windows could see that - but he won't be reporting into Merseyside any time soon.

The reason? Rio Ngumoha. Liverpool absolutely will not block their prodigy's path and he will sign his first professional contract at Anfield when he turns 17 on August 29 - it will be some of the most important business Liverpool have done all summer.

So while Barcola is thrilling, Liverpool won't for a second entertain lavishing a nine-figure fee on him when they believe they have a young man who could, in time, be headed right to the very top.

Doak set fot move from Liverpool to Bournemouth
Ewan Murray
Bournemouth are closing in on a deal to sign the Liverpool forward Ben Doak for £25m. The 19-year-old will move on for a huge profit on the £600,000 Liverpool paid Celtic in training compensation in 2022. The Scotland international has been linked with umpteen Premier League clubs and Porto but is expected to remain in England. Doak’s upcoming switch to the south coast comes as Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara is poised to join Brentford for up to £42.5m.

Wow. That's a brilliant move for him and us.

I suppose we're trading one prospect for another (with the Italian joining), but we have a greater need for him and see bigger potential. Doak could go to have a decent PL career, but he needs games, his body needs to be durable, and he still has to prove himself in the PL.

£25M is decent money for us, and I would say it carries a degree of risk for Bournemouth.

An interesting tweet from our ITK at Bayern

The Mo replacement, perhaps?

What is interesting is that some teams are now getting desperate and the fees seem to be getting higher than earlier in the summer. So maybe buying early and selling later (except Quansah) will work in our favor. Obviously, Isak is a little different, but I think ours and Newcastle's valuations have been steady all summer and we are in the driver's seat.

Will be interesting to see how this works out for United. They have a lot of players to sell. I think their selling will be more difficult, but the players they need to sell are already on big contracts.

I hear Utd are cutting back on the mint imperials in the boardroom so not sure how urgent their sales are tbf.

Updated and posting this from the Darwin thread instead:

---
So updated for Doak money and also Kelleher and Trent money which I left out::

Elliott $ + Nunez $ + 40m ==> Isak (TBD; assuming ~120m)
Diaz $ + Trent $ ==> Ekitike
Quansah $ + 5m ==> Kerkez
Morton $ + Kelleher $ ==> Frimpong
Doak $ ==> Leoni
100m for Wirtz
35m for Guehi (TBD; assuming ~35m)

With probably Tsimikas $ (input) and Guehi $ (output) TBD.
Final nett spend of 170~180m maybe for this summer?
About an average of 25m nett spend for each of the 7 new players (assuming Isak, Guehi come in and at the 120m and 35m levels respectively).

Lol I think it'd probably be simpler to just list all the ins and all the outs separately!

I see him doing well over there, not necessarily in terms of scoring/assisting 15-20 a season or whatever but he'll give a lot of LB's a night to forget that's for sure.

£25m is only good business if it's reinvested this summer on someone that would've featured more than him, our squad is paper fucking thin.
