Liverpool related transfer speculation

Ait-Nouri is one of those players that has had a couple of great games against us and has a good highlight reel... how often has that worked out for us in the past? Genuine question.

I know we've been burned several times. Has it ever worked out?

Seems like Diaz was sort of bought on that basis? Of course I'd like to think nobody is GENUINELY signed on that basis, but with Nunez it really feels like it was.

Wasn’t Diaz more bought on the strength of price and Spurs where about to sign him and he was on our list rather than playing against?

Agree for Nunez - ever since Virgil bigged up how difficult he was to play against.

Diaz was a target for the summer, but with Spurs moving we went early. Think he was a long term target in all honesty.

I want my fullbacks to be able to defend as well as attack. That description fits Kerkez. It does not and almost certainly never will fit Ait-Nouri.

Miguel Gutierrez seems like a superb passer, a rare playmaker LB type, but will he run up and down the wing as much as Kerkez? I feel we need an injection of speed and energy on the wings with new fullbacks most of all. Also not sure how good Gutierrez is defensively.

My hunch is we will eventually sign Miguel Gutierrez from Girona. Bournemouth will demand something like 60 million for Kerkez, which we will rightly refuse.

Gutierrez has a 35 million euros release clause, provided Real don't activate his buy back. As things stand, Real don't look to be activating the buy back. His agent is on record saying that they'll probably move this summer in the event he doesn't go back to Real. Girona have him on 6k a week, so you'd think we'd be able to secure him for much lower wages than Kerkez (who's already on 30k).

Overall, Gutierrez will be a much cheaper deal to put together I think.
But is he better? I don't want cheaper, I want better within budget, as this will be an important starting role for us next season.

Will City agree to this transfer? Feel like they will offer better terms just to prevent Gutierrez to come to us.

Mane?

I am relaxed going into the transfer window. By enlarge the data guys get it right. I expect our attack to be much faster and more accurate and defence with new full backs more solid.
The MF is more complicated and I think Slot needs to work out if he sees a future for Harvey and Endo? Harvey has proved me wrong with his game intelligence making up for the lack of pace. Endo has been Mr Reliable.

Klopp was tracking Mane whilst at Dortmund, so I reckon he was comprehensively scouted and just happened to play well against us.

Then I am not quite sure what @keniget was looking for in the original post—players who played well against us, had high peaks resulting in great highlight reels, but were inconsistent with an average not that high and then became consistently good after joining us. If that is the criteria, then I cannot remember any.

Mane is the closest I can think of. He had a couple of brilliant games against us. He was erratic at Southampton but went up a couple of levels in consistency and peak after he joined us. Monster of a signing.

Ait-Nouri has 11 G/A. More than any other defender in the league this season.

He's definitely an attacking force

I'm hopeful he wouldn't go anyway, based on his clear delight at being here from day one, topped off by the highly emotional after-match statement he issued on Sunday.

he has been my favourite player since his arrival but i do worry about what exactly is in his contract.

he clearly worked something into his last contract with brighton that got him to us for a bargain price and my concern is he used that cut price leverage to get something in his LFC contract

i’d hate this to happen, can they not just sign zubimendi or someone else i don’t give a shite about

We saw with Can that the club steadfastly refuse clauses. I doubt there's been any chance in policy.
