Liverpool related transfer speculation

Diaz should be extended IF we sign a top player ...

Diaz/Gakpo ..... NEW #9 ... Salah

If we're keeping those 3 and say Jota, I'd be very worried

I'd extend him but am not convinced at the moment that he should be more than a squad player. Difficult to judge because everyone is off the pace a little now, but we need an upgrade in the #9 position and possibly left forward as well. I'd be selling Jota and Darwin to part fund those two, keeping Gakpo and Diaz but not necessarily using either as first choice.

I can't really think of anyone except Gordon as a replacement for Diaz, but I still don't think it's an upgrade. Kvara would have been an upgrade but that ship has sailed.
I think the best course of action is to keep Diaz for another year. Let him go cheap next season like we did with Mane.
Instead focus on finding a replacement for Salah.

Nico Williams?

The more players we try to replace in one window the less likely we are to win something next season.

Not necessarily true though is it as it'd depend on a whole host of variables.

So you're saying then we're more likely to win something if we only bring in a new CF and LB as opposed to bringing in a new CF, LB, RB, another DM + 2-3 better squad players to replace those he never plays?

The reason we could be in a position to with the CL under Klopp is because he could replace almost the entire starting XI in the space of 2 years. It's true we didn't need much to win something the next season, then again the weaknesses in that squad wasn't as glaringly obvious to see in this squad.

Seems to get a lot of injuries then there's the matter of his wages. He's already on 170k a week. I'm sure he would want a lot more to move to england. He's not delivering the numbers to say he's worth the money.
Yeah hasn't had a great season, didn't look that good against Man U either

Looks like only minor issues as he has played 40 games + 3 out of the last 4 seasons and the age 22.
This season he has struggled with a hernia problem but played through the pain. That will be fixed this summer appaz.

The wages are a concern.

81 G/A in 190 games as a 22 year old is pretty good. He'll no doubt take some massive steps forward at a new club with better players around him imho.

How many players did we bring in the seasons we won the league and the Champions league?

18/19, we brought in Kieta, Alisson, Fabs & Shaq, 19/20 we brought in Minamino, 24/25 we brought in Chiesa.

In answer to your question - the more players we try and integrate, the harder it is to get the team playing because they’re not familiar with each other, their movement, patterns of play, etc

It’s no coincidence that teams who keep the same core together for longer do better more than teams who change a lot of players.

As cliched as it sounds - it’s about getting 3 to 4 quality players in that’ll make a difference, not 6-7 with half being squad players - overt time yes, but not all at once.

Plus if the rumour is true Bayern have triggered his release clause.

Do you really think we would've won the CL if we didn't change about half the squad the season before? That's what really gave us the foundation to build and move forward. Getting rid of the trash like Allen, Sakho, Benteke, Skrtel, Ibe & Lucas.

2018 was a huge change up for us, January that year was also the month we bought Virg.

Ali Fabs Virg Keita + Shaq. So 4 big signings and 1 quality squad player turned up from top 4 to champions.

It's not too dissimilar from what's required now.

Maybe that is correct if you are replacing players at their peak or of star quality but :

Nunez : contributed very little
Robbo: clearly in decline so his replacement will be an upgrade.
Backup to Bradders
Badger for Elliot
Hujson competes with and covers Ibou and Virgil.
Mad. for Kelleher.

Should to the contrary strengthen the team not weaken it.

Diaz stays, we have two bits of dead wood in Jota & Nunez to shift and then bed in the replacements. We also need to see what happens with Chiesa.

Diaz has performed better than what most of us expected, and he is starting to look more natural up the middle so the trio of Salah, Diaz and Gakpo is great on its day. I'd only sell if the fee was astronomical and allowed a true WC replacement, along with other additions.

He also seems to be a player who doesn't get injured. He's been available for all games in the past 2 seasons.

Not addressing the weakness in our squad is also likely to see we win nothing next season. Konate's contract needs to be sorted, and I hope they sort it out between the summer or sell him. I think pay him the extra £5m a year to keep him. A 4 year contract will cost an extra £20m over 4 years, and to buy a defender of his quality will cost £70m plus wages which is way more expensive
Quansah, Kev, JoGo, Elliot, Jota, Tsimi, Steph, Cheisa, Robbo, Endo, Morton, Jota and Diaz have all been mentioned to leave by various sources
Me personally I would try to keep JoGo, Tsimi, Steph, Diaz, and Endo. Robbo probably still get a good price and his wages could go to Konate. Quansah wants more time, and if an offer came in for £30m+ I would sell him and wish and Bonnie Blue well. Good luck figuring out who the father is. Jota is forever injured and if we can get a good fee for him, I see no pint keeping him.

I don't think the rest are part of Slot's plan, so why keep if Slot doesn't want to play them?

Chiesa is surely off. Not even making the match day squad yesterday is telling imho.
