Liverpool related transfer speculation

He’s got 2 years left on his deal. Might be a release clause there as well.

Darwin is 2 years younger and has 3 years left on his deal.

It’s all about market opportunity for me. If he’s too expensive, avoid. Decent fee, interested.

If we're taking solely as backup, I don't want to spend more than 40m. For anyone. We've got enough to do

Linked to Nkunku for 35m

Sesko will be crazy money, don't you understand the Red Bull model?
Yes thanks! See Szoboszlai, Konate, Minamino, Keita. (Can't believe you made me to say his name.)

We've loaned them players too, so must have a good relationship. I'd be surprised if there's no release clause. Didn't he want ridiculous wages as well though?

I think he's a good player. Would depend on how confident we can be about his fitness. Can cover LW too so might open the door to Diaz leaving given that Wirtz can also play there.

Diaz and Nunez out, Isak and Nkunku in.

They aren’t spending 80 mill on a striker to sit on the bench. That makes no sense. Neither does changing the system to two upfront either.

Newcastle are preparing for life without Isak, be it this summer or most likely next. No chance having both is part of their long term plan.

Mateta can jog on, too. I really hope that is BS.

We're gonna look fucking daft or fucking great by the end of this window, and it's entirely on what happens with Isak

It has to be this summer. What's the point in sitting on our hands when we're desperate for 2 9s

Bit the thing is , the PL is much harder to score due to the strength of the teams, so Darwin on that basis is worth more than some of of these project players in Germany.

Nurse! Nurse! Moron's bitten the straps off his strait jacket again!
The only people that are behind any sort of support for this Sesko guy are the ones that should be in a straight jacket. No one wants him on any of the fan channels, people were taking piss out Arsenal when they heard Arteta wanted him. Some say he is the European Nunez....how the hell are we linked with him ?

What's the quoted fee for Mateta? I'd be ok with him as a backup option for a few years as long as it's under 25m or thereabouts

yeah Mateta, would be a decent option event at 50m. Prem proven and has been decent since got here. Prefer it to spending 100m on younger risk unless it's our first choice.
Don't see Newcastle not selling Isak if they get Ekitike, I don't think he is going to up front with him and they are signing a 80m striker to sit on the bench.

It goes back to the “Benteke paradigm” - where, sure, Mateta is a good player, but does he suit the system we play and would he be a good fit.

Is Mateta the sort of player to drop deep or use his movement to drag defenders out of position, is he good at pressing, is he technically good to be able to hold up play, how fast is he, what does his wife look like?

I don’t know much about him other than the odd clips, were he’s looked physically strong and ok at finishing, but he feels like a player best suited to where he is rather than a top team.

I thought it was telling that Newcastle tried hard for Joao Pedro, but at least he's versatile so you could see how they might want both. Going for Ekitike surely means they're going to sell Isak though.

It’s entirely plausible, but equally, they’ve let Callum Wilson go and with CL and Isak missing the odd game with injury, it’s equally plausible that they want, or more likely need, a 2nd forward.

They learnt a lesson last time they were in the CL- so I’d imagine they’ll want to consolidate and make sure they’re in again next year.

I think people here forget how many players Chelsea have.

Newcastle are rich, they can easily afford Ekitike and keep Isak.

Absolutely this. They'd rather sell an academy player for pure profit than Isak. Do they still have they Miley kid? If so, expect him to be sold instead.

It's not that they'd have to sell Isak to fund Elitike but that they wouldn't be buying him in the first place if Isak was staying.

It's odd - £80m on a backup striker? Hard to believe if you ask me.
