Liverpool related transfer speculation

I’m not sure if I’ve missed something here, but am I the only one who finds the Morton transfer a bit... iffy?

Seriously, no interest from the Championship or maybe even Germany?

Lyon of all teams?!

The same Lyon were about to be thrown out of Ligue 1 over financial issues?

THEY are the ones taking a £10 million punt on an untested (let's be honest) backup who barely featured last season?

I know I’m repeating myself, but the only way this adds up is if Fofana’s coming the other way.

Feels like a PSR thing,

Edit:

He's also their most expensive signing this summer.
Cut-price deal for Fofana. Has to be.

Feels like a PSR thing,

I think you’re reading too much in to it.

I’m not totally across the financial issues, but I do t think they were caused by the new ownership and they’ve gone some way to addressing the problems.

From a purely financial aspect, this makes sense because they can give him the playing time and of he’s successful the chance of selling him back to a Premier League club at a decent profit is pretty high.

It might be us just building good links with them for a future Fofana offer - I’d say we’d likely want him to stay there another year.

Might even be getting in Textor’s ear to get him to push for a more favourable approach over Guehi at Spurs - but it’s more likely just an opportunity to make a decent profit in a few years for someone likely on low wages that isn’t costing much.

Good place to maybe loan some kids to as well if we do want to foster closer links.

nyoni being part of the midfield rotation was posted on here but was it also posted that supposedly he's ahead of endo and endo has been told this?

kostas seems like a good egg and all but we know slot likes a small squad and having him seems excessive regardless of that. i wonder if we'd loan him out just to cover salary?

just read united fans discussing how he’s on £12.5k a week and how they should rescue him from such poverty

i really hope they don’t start to improve, it’s one of my favourite parts of recent seasons

Yup, Utd can't be allowed to get Baleba.

Need Chelsea to add him to the collection if it comes down to it.

I couldn't agree more but I'm afraid we're going to have to get ready for some improvement. Their problems run deep and sorting them won't be an overnight job, but regrettably I do expect them to get better, especially if they land Sesko and fit him in quickly.

Brighton won’t sell Baleba as they have no fall back option and Tony Bloom won’t leave his childhood club in the lurch without a top quality replacement.
If he becomes available next season, it could happen but not to manure, he has more sense even though he has some compatriots in their team.

yea i don’t actually think united can afford to make it happen right now, it would take a ridiculous offer and like you say in the future when it will take a less ridiculous offer there will be competition

Seriously though, how long till PSR catches up with them?
Unless Ratcliff pumps in another £200m, they're gonna be in trouble thats according to @Beamrider . They have assets of very little value. I imagine if they gave away the naming rights to the Old Toilet they could get £50-60m each year (complete guess, no clue what its worth)

The only significant (i.e. high-profile) naming rights deal I can think of in recent years was Everton, which was for a new stadium with no historic name. Knowing the size of Hill Dickinson's business (they usually leave about £2.5m in the business after the partners' profit share) I don't expect they'll have paid a huge amount for the rights. It was rumoured at "up to £10m" but I doubt it'll be that much.
Spurs, with a state-of-the-art, huge, modern stadium in London, have still not sold their naming rights.
I think United would struggle to get anyone to pay serious money to put their name on a ground that's falling apart, and their fans would likely freak as much as ours would if we renamed Anfield.
If they get the new stadium up and running, that's a different proposition, but chances are they'll struggle like Spurs.
Our commercial guys were convinced they'd sell naming rights for the Main Stand. Still waiting. That's even why they renamed the Centenary as the Kenny Dalglish stand, to prove the point about the publicity they'd get, but they kind of shot themselves in the foot as loads of fans still call it the Kemlyn.

He has to agree to that though. If I was him I'd be happy to stay with this group, get paid a good wage, and hope I got onto the pitch enough to qualify for another PL or CL medal (or FAC or LC).
