Hes up and down ay?

I cant figure it out, he looks such a rolls royce much of the time, brilliant at reading the game, strong, passionate, I really love defenders like him, touch of the Carraghers about him.
If he could cut out those occassional brain farts he would be something else.

I find myself most of the time purring over the things he makes look so simple but then he has games when he is all over the shop.

Is the jury still out with him? Im kinda erring towards hes an asset.

I think he switches off too often, that was always his downfall. He's improved loads and he absolutely bossed the derby, but the goal yesterday happened partly because he got lax and ended up on the wrong side of Walters - it was his man and he let him go too easily.

He generally looks better with Matip alongside him, a bit like Skrtel with Carra, but I think an upgrade on him and a playing partner for Matip is a matter of urgency, hopefully to be dealt with in the summer.
Consistency in a defender is paramount and without it he remains a liability.

I'm not convinced he's good enough. Certainly good enough for the squad but we'll need him to cut out the mistakes if we're to win a title.

I agree he has too many lapses of concentration, but I thought the goal yesterday was down to Wijnaldum and Clyne fucking around and letting the cross come in instead of one of them dealing with the winger. They both waited for the other to take control.

I don't think hes good enough long term but he's all we've got this season.

Happy to see him replaced in the summer.

Just too many errors to be trusted long term

Mane and Clyne I thnk

It was Mane, but I think he was unfortunate. Carragher said he switched off, but he came back and the ball didn't seem to go in the direction he intended and he looked like he lost his bearings for a second. Clyne stood off though and didn't get tight when the opportunity was there, and then Mane put in a half arsed attempt at a block instead of getting tight. Lovren got the wrong side of Walters and Mignolet should have done better. It was a combination of things but they all played a part. Which is typical of us, collectively we're not that great defensively.

He's just too poor in one on one situations (against attackers obv.) for me.
To me thats because he can be just a bit slow to read and or react to situations.

The Bournemouth game was a perfect example - look his attempt to clear that led to Milner giving away a penalty for the first goal.

Then for the second he played on a Bournemouth player.

Against Crystal Palace:

That first one is inexplicable, then he scores. Then he gets beaten twice in the air for the next Palace goal.

I'm sure there's more, particularly in terms of weak positioning generally in games but others who have watched all the games in full are better placed to comment.

To sum up, my view is Lovren is a passive defender prone to unforced errors. Klopp's tactics don't hide his weaknesses in any way - they exacerbate them. Something needs to change if we're to be a bit more consistent at the back. I wouldn't change the tactics though.

Didn't realise you worked for 'Innocent', nice little product placement there.

It's a funny one - He was an out and out liability before Klopp came along - so with that in mind the improvement has been dramatic and improving the lapses are fewer and further apart - I don't think another CB is a priority- We have yet to see what Gomez is capable of
