Think this will be our next signing... 18 mill bid already rejected... It appears he will try to force through a move

Lovren: "Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool. Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Only Real Madrid have as many fans"

Lovren: "The last time I played at Anfield, I got chills when I heard 'You'll Never Walk Alone.' I would like to listen to it all the time."

So what do people think about this potential signing ?

Surely it's Lovren + Sakho ?

You can't spunk that much on a cb and 12 months back not have him starting , sorry some clubs can but we can't.

still not convinced on Sakho yet, maybe Lovren will be the partner he needs

Thats a bit naughty from Lovren, but I hope we sign him. He and Sakho are our future CBs

Bit of a shithouse stunt and disrespectful to his current club, we'd go up the wall if it was one of ours doing that. But, still, he's a very good defender, and I'd like to see him and Sakho build a partnership next season.

Yea I'd be unimpressed with that if I were a Southampton fan but as a player it has got to suck balls when your club starts flogging its best players.

I didn't watch much of Southampton last season, but it looks like Lovren was almost always the LCB for them. Often played there in his pairing with Fonte, and shifted in to RCB a couple of times when Hooiveld played at LCB instead.

If Lovren does join, then I think Skrtel + Lovren might be the pair that is the pair that plays most often (fitness and form allowing) with Sakho rotating in at LCB. Lovren can shift over to RCB when Sakho gets his minutes, and there will probably be either a RCB backup in the form of the veteran Toure (if retained), or the young Ilori. Wisdom will probably be backup at RB if he stays with the team next season.

Huh Me and @Markeh agree again. I've been doing a lot of that recently *bumps fist*

It is a very disrespectful couple of comments Lovren had made. Still from what I saw of him last season he was the nuts. Read a few reports Galatasaray are after Skittles as well. I would hate to see him go.

Skrtel will stay, Agger & Coates to go bye bye...

Wisdom and Toure will be back up

Lovren and Skittles fist choice pairing for me...

I wouldn't want to lose Skrtel either but he does have that one year on, one year off thing and it might be time for a poor season.

ConAir, what a movie

I'm sort of expecting Kolo to go too, he didn't seem to have any of the qualities expected of an old head when he got on the pitch.

Ah yeh but the entertainment factor he shows, means he is a must stay..

Imagine training the next day after a Toure gaff.. You would be in stitches.. Team morale would go through the roof..

Lets all take the piss out of Toure..

Must Stay just for that alone imho..

True, I forgot about the nice guy morale effect, he does seem like he'd be great to be around. I'd probably keep limit him to league cup only if he's sticking around, his defending was hectic last season.

That was my view, too, except I'd stay clear. A cnut who is disrespecting the club with which he has a contract.

I agree, but in a perverse sense it's almost refreshing to see a player do it himself instead of leave it to his agent/manager/father-in-law/mum so he doesn't risk getting in too much trouble.

[article=http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/features/talking-tactics-how-last-summers-big-signings-performed.html]After shipping 60 goals the previous season Southampton needed to add quality in central defence, and Dejan Lovren provided it in spades during 2013/14.

At 24, the athletic Croatian is blessed with good pace and this suited Pochettino’s desire to play pressing football with an occasional high line. If a mistake was made he could recover.

Lovren's all-round game was also an upgrade for Southampton. Able to man-mark aggressively (as he did so impressively against Daniel Sturridge in his side's 1-0 win at Anfield), or drop off and play a composed role distributing neatly from the back, the player bought from Lyon was a classy presence in the heart of defence no matter who they were up against.

Statistically the Croat was not exceptional when it came to tackling or aerial duels. However, he quickly became a leader of the back four proving particularly adept at reading the game and springing attacks with a wonderful range of long passing.

Lovren's key strengths
Interceptions 84 at 2.7 per game fourth-highest for BPL centre-backs
Accurate long passes 185 at 6.0 per game third highest for BPL centre-backs

The portents aren't good for this sort of comment. It usually ends either in the player not coming, or us getting fined for doing what Barca and many others do to us on a regular basis.

Diame joined West Ham from Wigan on a free transfer in 2012, but before moving to Upton Park he almost signed for Liverpool.

"In my head I was already in Liverpool," he revealed.

"It was next, I told everyone that I was there. It was as if one of my greatest wishes - to wear the Liverpool shirt - had been accomplished.

"One day my agent and I went to the training centre to see Kenny Dalglish, who was the coach.

"I found myself amongst photos of Gerrard and co, all these great players. I was proud of myself.

"I arrived in the office and Dalglish said 'I can't guarantee you'll play every match but we have a lot of games to play'.
"He talked to me about the European Cup, my benefits and the pre-season trip to America. He sold me the dream!

"Unfortunately, Dalglish was fired and all negotiations stopped. I told myself that God wanted it that way and that is not a reason for me to stop work. It will happen one day.
