Yeah of course mate, but i don't think i'm expecting too much to want 3 new 1st team players to come in this summer though (with a CM being one of those).

If we cover LB, LW and CM, i'll be happy enough. I guess a lot depends on how Kenny wants to line us up.
 
Read a quote from Dalglish who said that Lucas is rated very highly back in Brazil.

I have to agree with this.

Over the past few years I've met many Brazilians and I've always asked them what they think of Lucas - and every single time it's been nothing but high praise.

There was this one chap I met who is a insane Flamengo fan and he started off by saying - "ok I am a Flamengo fan, and I really hate Gremio and their fans ... (descended into some political rant for the next few mins) ... and so yeah anyway, despite this and my hatred, Lucas is a brilliant player". :laugh:
 
The easy praise he gets makes me fume. As SG said people want to give him MOM before a ball has been kicked, its embarrassing.

This is what Kenny says about him, and it's spot on.

In that, he is not quite the "good player" now. He has some potential to be a very useful player, but at the moment he still has a lot of developing to do. But he is already 24, how much more he can develop physically and technically is the big question and nobody knows the answer.

I have no problem with him being in the squad. But if we get anything more than 9million, i'd happily sell and get a replacement. What he does is not irreplaceable.
 
I'v said it before and I'll say it again.

He doesn't score enough nor create enough goals to be an attacking mf.

He doesn't tackle enough to be a DM.

He's ok at everything but doesn't excel at anything.

So he shouldn't be in our team.

Yeah, after all he only accounted for a measley 7 of 21 of the entire team's tackles in the Chelsea match. And 5 interceptions. More than anyone else on the pitch that night. But so shameful for a DM.

Ok sorry should have read doesn't tackle well enough for a DM.

He makes alot of poor efforts especially around our box.
 
Tackling is one of the things he's definitely good at, but he's not particularly athletic and he's not that quick, so if he gets turned it's over.

He makes stupid tackles still, that's for sure, but so does every DM to some extent. He could cut that out.

If he's part of an inspiring midfield at Liverpool, it won't be because of him.
 
Lucas is doing well consistently enough to be a starter in the absence of better options.

He deserves our backing every time he pulls on the shirt but is not above criticism.

However, he is oft a scapegoat when there's a few other players who are also have poor games. Let have some impartiality!

He's very poor on most Saturdays.
 
Given time to move the ball, get in his tackles and interceptions he looks useful. Lucas's weakness is that he gets caught in possession and doesn't have the strength and balance to ride challenges occasionally leaving us exposed.

His other main weakness is that he has a habit of giving away soft free kicks near our goal giving opponents the opportunity to test us from set pieces. Why he does this I don't know I can only guess that it's a lapse in concentration which is a major flaw in his position.

There are better players and I reckon the summer will see him replaced and thereafter used as a substitute.
 
He'd do better in a different team in a different league, but then I said that from the start of his career here.

I struggle to imagine him succeeding here as a quality first teamer in the long-term and like others, I'd like to see that position addressed in the summer. He'd be a good squad player, but we need better to rely on week in week out.

The reason why they don't have threads is because there arent threads talking about how wonderful they really are, Fox.

There were worse on the pitch, notably Jovanovic.

But let's be clear; Lucas was shit on Saturday.

He needs to improve; and I'm not sure if that's going to happen when every good performance is lauded as Mcmahon-esque and every bad one is dismissed with the words 'let's get behind him'
 
Thing is he's been shite for ages and them fan boys over at rawk don't deserve any credit for being proved right. All the match goers I speak to say the same he gets slated for being a liability as hes been a liability for most of his time here.

And of course credit where due he's been ok for quite a few games in the last year.
