Lucas Leiva was over by the Bullens Road, when some fella stands up and yell's, 'fuck off Leiva your the worst Brazilian I've seen since David Blunkett shaved his missus.'

Liverpool star set for an Italian job

By David Maddock

Napoli head the queue for Liverpool midfielder Lucas, who has not yet been offered a new Anfield contract.

The Brazilian international is closing in on the last 12 months of his current deal, and there have been no moves from within the club to extend.

That suggests his days on Merseyside are numbered, with the club already preparing their transfer plans for the summer under new director of football Damien Comolli.

The fact that talks have not even opened suggests it is now unlikely to happen, and Serie A side Napoli have taken note.

The Italians are ready to offer around £3million, which could be enough for them to get their man as Liverpool are hoping to get ready-made replacement Charlie Adam from Blackpool for a similar figure, given that he too will only have a year remaining on his contract at the end of the season.

They can fuck off.
3m for a regular starter at a club of LFC's stature is taking the piss.
If we do have a replacement or two lined up, I'd rather he be kept as a part of the squad next season and then lose him for nothing than sell him this summer. He'll be of more value to us if he stayed.

Agreed.

Lucas is worth a lot more to us than £3M. Napolli can fuck off.

Yeah I'm not a fan but £3m is a piss take. It's probably bullshit anyway as figures quoted elsewhere have been in the £7-8m region.

I'm not convinced Adam will be a success for us but I'm convinced Lucas has been an abject failure so if we can get rid of Lucas for the same fee as Adam I'd be ecstatic.

I'd be happy to swap Lucas for Adam too. I doubt either would move for the mentioned £3m though.

Hahahaha!

£3 Million is too low for a Brazilian international even if he only has 12 months left.

Isn't Cahill in the same situation but his price tag is like £18 Million?

what do you expect for 5 mill in central mid? very few decent centre nids have been bought for that little, i'd imagine.

So? The difference is that Cahill is actually rated by more than one club= higher price tag.

I can't disagree with that but he's not as good as Spearing so why did we waste £5m on him? If we were to buy another player, in any position, for £5m I'd have my doubts about their chances of being a success but I'd expect them to perform better than Lucas has.
he's miles better than spearing. miles better.
Couldn't agree less, Spearing knows how to tackle, reads the game better than Lucas, passes as well as Lucas i.e. they're both fairly average, makes forceful runs forward at appropriate times (based on reserve team performances as well as his run into the box against Sunderland) and he's more physical.

Doesn't matter. Crouch went for £10 Million when only Portsmouth wanted him. So I don't buy that.

It would be ground breaking though if all interested clubs agree to not bid on Cahill and let his contract run out.

I agree that Spearing is better than Lucas in some aspects. But reading the game?
Really?
Ask yourself why he was given the freedom to run into the box? The answer is, because a certain Lucas was playing behind him.

And hopefully we're willing to tell them to fuck off.

While I do agree that £3m would represent poor business, the fact that he's a regular starter for us is pretty insignificant. Our 'stature', certainly in terms of quality, is not what it was, and it's precisely because we have players like Lucas playing week in, week out.

If we can swap him for Adam with little to no outlay then I'd be happy with that.

The thing is aswell, if we can more or less exchange Lucas for Adam, in financial terms, we might then have the dough for that elusive DM we're crying out for...

Yeah but surely that shows that Spearing, of the two DM's that we fielded that day, was the one who looked at certain situations and decided to augment the attack knowing that Lucas was covering him. Spearing is ostensibly a DM but he has the ability to judge situations when he can safely move up the pitch without leaving us short at the back.

The fact that Dirk, with two years left on his deal, was offered a contract before Lucas showsthe writing is on the wall for Lucas.

And rightly so

I'm convinced Lucas is going to be with us for the rest of his days and is never going to get injured ever!

But can't we make out to other clubs being a Brazillian international means he's automatically a ten mil plus midfield general and they will fall for it?
