As you say LTW, his defensive work most of the time was good. His passing seriously pissed me off but we needed him today and the goals weren't his fault.
Job well done. Could be much better, but I'm glad he got through the game and won. Hopefully do his confidence some good.
Piss poor passing today, unlucky with some ticky tack calls by the ref (who was shit the whole game; thankfully he got the peno right though). Worked his socks off defensively.
He did restrict Bale well for the most part, but he lost him twice. Once in the early stages where he slipped over and it led to the Siggurdson chance and for the second goal he was chasing the player in the corner and left Bale unmarked.
The problem with our midfield(Lucas and Gerrard) is that it seriously lacks pace which often leads to our defense being stretched out. A lot of mistakes that are put down to our defense originate from midfield.
The first 25 minutes he was fundamental to our control of the game, as he got tight to Bale or whoever else was moving in between the lines and denied them any attacking momentum. But his passing got increasingly erratic throughout the game.
* This is not - for stupid people and/or people living in Australia - a generalised claim that everyone, regardless of age, profession or political persuasion, should need unlimited time to repay faith in their recovery.
Lucas was fine today, and given that for most of the game he was alone against Bale and Dembele he deserves a bit more credit.
I thought he worked hard and held the middle of the park really well, most of Tottenhams good work came from the flanks.
I think people are being harsh.
Other than his passing he was good today. I wouldnt be worried about his passing game. Everyone's passing game has improved under Rodgers and Lucas has rarely had a problem with his before. It wont be a long term problem.
“I’ve been delighted with Lucas,” “We were very wary of the fact he had had a serious knee injury last season, and then obviously another problem on top of that this season. It was important for the team to get him back, but it was important for him that we did so at the right pace and that we paced his recovery right. It is a big credit to him as a professional. He has worked so hard, and his attitude and his application has been first class. He deserves every praise for the way he has conducted himself.” “I still believe, having worked with these kind of injuries in the past, that it won’t be until the summer, and beyond even, that we see him back at full level. “It will be great for him to get a full pre-season with the group under his belt, but you can see in recent games that his mobility and the speed of his game is getting better and better all the time.

14 PL games pre Lucas return v Southampton = 18 goals. 14 PL games after = 35 goals - That was pre todays game. Lucas is vital to the way we play. Quick forward passing. Compare him to Allen when he was playing in that position earlier in the season. How many times a game used Allen pass back to Reina?
He is slowly getting better, with his timing and agility. His passing was piss poor today and really frustrating but it is at 89.6% for the season. People calling for Henderson to come in as a defensive midfielder is a strange one. The alternative, as it has been all season is Allen not Henderson and the stats below highlight why.
------------------------Lucas Allen Henderson Tackles per game: 4.2 - 2.1 - 1.2 Interceptions p/g: 2.2 - 1.8 - 0.9
