But West Brom were excellent on the night. They proved that they are not shit.
It's not quite that simple. They may have improved under that horrible twat Pardew, but they're still the side who are second-bottom of the Premiership. So they're quite shit. Mind you, they may have been buoyed by the fact we lost our previous game to Swansea, who are even more shit.
WBA were better than us on Saturday. Totally accept that point. The team needed to do better as a whole no doubt.
Without pointing to Mignolet as the scapegoat for the loss, the observation that he was the worst of a bad bunch is still a correct observation.
The point has been made previously (as a rebuttal to one of your previous posts that you did not acknowledge) that you only need to look at the two WBA goals that were disallowed to see just how devoid of confidence and poor he was. If you were not shaking your head in utter disbelief as that corner came in, and he stood on his line while the WBA player headed the ball three yards from goal. He should be coming for, and retrieving that 99 times out of 100. The same with the offside headed "goal". How can he be beaten to the ball by a solitary player three yards from his goal when he can use his hands? There was no other pressure from any other players jostling him but the ball still wound up in the net. What about Rodriguez's first goal. Really well struck no doubt. But he hit it from 18 yards out and comprehensively beat Mignolet - who should have been at least near the ball.
No point in defending the indefensible JJ. He wasn't singularly responsible for the loss. No one is saying that. But he contributed to it by giving every one of our players no confidence that we had any ability to save anything.
Poor the JJ.
