Milan Jovanovic

Either way, the most interesting thing to take out of this is the fact that most reports indicate he wouldn't sign until he received assurances of Rafa's future.

Yeah. Interesting or depressing, depending how you look at it. Me, I'm depressed: it looks like Rafa will still be our manager next season.

Unless they can bring in new investment to the club, both the americans are too stingy to sack him.

We should have a go at bringing in Cole and Saha on freebies.
We should be all over Joe Cole like a rash. He's marvellous and exactly the type of player we need.

But we don't have to sack him now. Juve might even PAY us to let him go!

That would be the external factor, nothing much we can do from our end.

My only concern is our stingy owners, if they are not willing to commit more transfer fund to our manager (whoever that is), I'm not sure who would be interested in joining us. (Purslow mentioned if there's new investment, it will go on and reduce the club's debts?)

He's 29? I thought he was younger than that, one for the future like.
Lets hope he is better than Rafa's last few Bosmans.

There a couple of good bosman's out there we should we all over.

Cole, Chamakh, Saha.. no transfer money spent.. only wages (which would admittedly be sizeable) but then they'd be sizeable anyway, no matter who we signed.

We got those lot, that'd solve our forward and wing problem.. both first team and squad depth.

Saha is past it and injury prone. Wouldn't want him. I know nothing of Chamakh other than what I've read but he sounds like he's on an upward curve and given that our resources are limited, I guess we have to take these kind of chances when they come around.

Injury prone.. without doubt. Past his best? Sure. Past it? I'm not so sure. He's scored 11 goals in 21 apps in the Premierleague this year, but I suppose looking at his age (didn't realise he was 31!) I can see what you mean.. he's no spring chicken.

Another Bosman. Joy. We should be busting a nut to bring David Villa over, who wants to come and we're resorting to Bosman signings. Not one, but two. Oh yea I remember now, we're a big club.

Rafa spent £20-22M on his last striker, and what a wasted opportunity that was.

Poor Benitez.

Keane was £20 million.

19m according to the bbc. (+potential 1.3m add on).

A gamble that failed. But admittedly he was Prem-proven (i guess).

I'm more upset about the 8m wasted on Dossena (with Riise being let go for half that) and the 11.5m on Babel (where we've seen little value or return).

Preety sure the moment we began sniffing his contract issues would miraculously be resolved, tho.

Sorry. don't mind me,

Just fuckiing up putting on a video collation of our new striker

Does this mean Chamkah has decided to ply his trade elsewhere? Wasnt he due to announce his plans by the end of Jan and put his millions of adoring fans at ease? We've been cautiously awaiting the breaking of conclave but so far there is no smoke from the papal chimney

Saha is past it and injury prone.

Torres: 21 games, 12 goals.

Saha: 26 games, 13 goals

Saha's not bad this season considering he's past it.

I would have loved if the Saha rumours we're true, he is doing very well this season and it would have pissed off the bitter.

He got 8 goals last season and 5 the season before that.

He's 31, on the decline, and spends large portions of the season on the sidelines. Plus he'd want a hefty wage packet. I think we should be concentrating on players whose stars are rising rather than falling.

I'd entertain players who could play and score goals.
We could always have that written into their contracts.

You'd be pretty sore after a while though.
