I know this isn't a remotely original thought, but the reaction from fans and social media generally to a bad half season has really made me believe that a lot of people have been quite damaged by the internet/social media etc.

The lack of patience and this apparently driving need for sensational takes - I just don't think you'd have got that 20 years ago. And I see a few others have noticed it as well, specifically in this context. I'm not a big fan of his but Martin Samuel was on the TV on Sunday talking about exactly this - booing at half-time etc. How there's no such thing as just "a bad season" anymore. I think there's a lot of truth to that.

I think Ballbag was on Twitter recently too, sharing the same sentiment. People need to fucking chill out, get off their phones etc. Or at least get off fucking Tiktok.

It doesn't surprise me from the media and social media, it's been getting progressively worse for ages and is expected. I just don't consume any of it, so I don't care.

Since last season, it's been creeping more and more into SCM. That I do care about. This was our refuge.

My concern about Slot is really he is disliked by players and rubs them up the wrong way. Kind of like Rafa but maybe not as cold.

I am concerned this will lead to a loss of players and making it harder to hattract others.

And yeah, he likes intensity and possession so why can’t you attack like your predecessor? Why did you not replace Diaz? Why are you so bad on forward transitions?

Oh you won the league? That was nice. What about now?

Plenty of reports that Slot wanted Diaz to stay/offered a new deal, and I strongly suspect wanted a replacement, was told to use Ngumoha, and has generally refused to do so out of principle. Whether that's right or wrong, we can't hold Slot accountable for all transfer activity. They've stuck him as Head Coach for a reason.

Having said all that we won the league last year and are currently out of the champions league spots. We are losing games. We are drawing games. We’ve only won six games since October. It’s not really a social media over reaction anymore. We also have a manager seems to be struggling to attack, struggling to use a squad and struggling to manage personalities.

Maybe we are about to move past this.

But I really don’t think a sponsored PR exercise is going to change my own view of things. If anything, it shows that they’re clearly worried.

Again. That wasn't the point of the interview ! Not everything has to be about the playing side of the game ! Whether you consider it a PR exercise or not it was an interesting look inside the club.
