Agree with all of that except Salah is given free rein from defending by Slot. Therefore, the main problem is Slot insisting on playing him. So frustrating, he can't even sub him off!
 
There is little proof that the team is better without Mo and that we have someone capable to replace him adequately. It's not like Slot didn't try. The 2 matches Mo didn't start we lost to Gala and Palace without scoring a single goal.

Sure by all accounts Mo is not blameless in our downward spiral but there isn't anyone truly screaming out to be included in place of him. Anything else is just hit and hope.
 
He isn’t the main or the only problem, naive thininking to reduce it so simply. Hasn’t made much diff either, interesting to see whom the same posters who been at it over years will blame over Afcon, need
A new central scape goat to polarise this place.

Im not so sure if its a simple matter of growing a pair and dropping him. It is a massive over simplification and extrapolation. If indeed that is the case then the main problem is that not Salah.

Anyway as you say its not that far away - the AFCON induced Salah break. Im not really going to get drawn into a discussion on whether he is the main problem or only problem. He needs to improve, so do a lot of others including Slot - this is the long and short of it for me.

Slot needs to decide it’s him or Mo, because if we carry on as we are, we’re not making the CL next season. And Slot is gone if that happens.

Mo’s minutes needs to be managed. Even his diehard supporters agree with that now

0-3 against Palace at home. Where none of Chiesa or Nguomha or whoever that was usually warming the bench made an impression whatsoever.

The proof is the five minutes frimpong was on against manure when he beat Salah's 85 minutes of stats for both beating his defender and finding his man.
 
Am I saying Frimpong is the answer? No but he might be part of it. He's not going to score Salah's goals, but Ekitike and Isak are. That's the whole point of this last transfer window. Isn't it? If not then what?

Frimpong started against Gala with the rest of the first teamers. Salah didn't start.

We lost 1-0. It was Galatasaray.

So what's next?
 
So we were shite against gala and it's relevant to this discussion how? Frimpong was clearly better in the same position against manure. We bought him and two strikers for what reason?

Why would you not bring up the games we won where Mo didn't start? Like Frankfurt? Or Southampton?

Palace cup game doesn't count, as you know, because we played 2 first team players, go check the league or the community shield games. Gala we lost to a pen that was never a pen in a million years, he came on for the last half hour and had no impact.

The only time we've played a run without Mo in the side was during/after AFCON in 23/24, we won 10, drew 1 and lost 1.

What's the difference at the end of the day? When Salah started and we won against Real, there was no mention of him contributing in a winning team. That was followed up by City, where we lost and suddenly Salah is to be wholly blamed for the defeat.

For the record, I am not saying Salah isn't accountable for his poor performances, but he is being made the scapegoat and most of the time, the entire cause of our losses when he is not the only one who had been underperforming.

It must have hurt whenever Salah scored a goal didn't it. And he has scored LOADS of them.

The difference could be between losing 6 out of 7 and not losing 6 out of 7.

Salah is only capable of looking half the player he was when the rest of the team are helping to carry his lazy arse, Madrid probably being the one and only prime example, Bradley stopping Vini and Mbappe in their tracks almost single handedly.

Mo has looked average to shit in every other game this season, and you clearly haven't been paying much attention to what's said of Ibou, Mac, Kerkez, Wirtz, Jones etc if you think he's a victim of "scapegoating"

Once again, I am not saying he isn't underperforming. But is he the cause of all our problems? That's also a no.

Arguably, the team has relied on his brilliance for far too long in the past many seasons and when he is finally not cutting it, no one else has.

To me, it is a team issue, not an ONLY Salah issue.

Well you and many others have made it sound like once Mo is dropped, we will magically become better / start winning.

I am just providing evidence of some actual games we have played when Salah wasn't on the pitch and we had fired blanks regardless.
