NBA Regular Season Thread & Playoffs

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

Shaq is now the 5th highest scoring player in NBA history.

Well done to him.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

DALLAS -- Jason Kidd has passed Magic Johnson for No. 3 on the NBA's career assist list.

With his 14th assist in Dallas' 140-116 win on Sunday, Kidd hit 10,142 for his career. The milestone came on a dish to Josh Howard for an 18-footer with a minute left in the second quarter of a game against Phoenix.

He received a standing ovation when it was announced. Among those on their feet: broadcaster Mark Jackson, who is No. 2 on the list with 10,334. Kidd completed the first half with 16 assists, and finished the game with 20 -- setting his season-best for a full game.

Kidd also set Mavs records for first-half assists (16) and assists in a regulation game.

John Stockton is the record-holder with 15,806.

something tells me Stockton's record will never fall.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

the newest HoF class includes his airness, the admiral, the best passer of all time and one of the most underrated coaches of all time:

DETROIT (AP)—It was only a matter of time, and now Michael Jordan is in the Hall of Fame.

Jordan was elected to the class of 2009 Monday with David Robinson, John Stockton, Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan and Rutgers women’s coach C. Vivian Stringer.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

big loss for the Spurs:

SAN ANTONIO (AP)—The San Antonio Spurs’ Big Three is down to two.

Manu Ginobili will miss the rest of the season and playoffs for the Spurs after tests Monday revealed that his troubled right ankle has gotten worse.

It was the news San Antonio dreaded after Ginobili sat out the fourth quarter in Sunday’s blowout loss at Cleveland, and leaves the Spurs limping toward the postseason in search of a fifth NBA title since 1999.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

That is a very strong hall of fame class.

Chris Paul vey well may break it, he has the record for most consecutive games with a steal, already.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

Mavericks are getting hot at ther right time ... I hope this means a nice playoff run to keep D happy! ;)

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

Garnett, who's played 4 games in 2 months, may be out of the playoffs. If that's the case, their chances of repeating go down dramatically ... I don't like the Cs much (sorry D), so would rather see Howard & co (or LeBron and co) make a run at the West's candidate.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

Garnett's loss will be HUGE for the Celtics. Oh well, I guess it's the Lakers vs Cavs.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

I think this will be a great playoffs in the West - I expect many upsets. I just hope the Mavs can go as far as you say, and then be a 'bit' tougher for the Lakers.

I think Dallas has a very good chance against the Spurs now that Ginobili is out and Duncan is not 100%.

I expect you to win this series, Avy - The Mavs have been playing well, and the Spurs are old, tired and decimated by injury.

Of course, you can never under-estimate the fight in San Antonio, but Dallas should prevail.

After that, I think they're in trouble...

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

Spurs in 5, then out in 5 in the next round, no matter who they play.

I wish it was 3 or 4 years ago when we were young.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

Mavs beat the Spurs in game one, a big game considering we're now 1-9 in our last 10 road games in the playoffs. Good start.

Boston lost to Chicago by 2 in OT ... Without KG, this team will need a few miracles to repeat.

I still think Boston will get past the Bulls, but it'll go all the way to Game 7.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

I change my prediction Spurs are gone in 6, as much as it breaks my heart. looks like I'll be pulling for Cleveland the rest of the way.

Re: NBA Regular Season Thread

Today:

The Sixers shocked the Magic.

The Nuggets thumped the Hornets.

The Hawks held D-Wade to 19 pts and absolutely smashed the heat.

The Lakers beat the Jazz.
