Post Match Newcastle (A) Aug 26th 2 fucking 3

Cheer up you absolute miserable cunts. Rio was the fairytale, Szobo the leader, we were lacking Macca and Frimpong, up against a side who knew they were going to kick shit out of us and we battled well, scored three great goals and won, all be it fortuitously in terms of numbers.

We will buy Isak and Guehi and we'll push on, sure we have issues but that was one of the trickiest games of the season, we were never going to steamroll them, it was like playing the blue shite at the shed, a non-football shit fest, it's easy to say "oh we didn't play our game", it's not always that straightforward when you play yard dogs and a retarded shithouse ref.

a hugely popular player in the squad died in a car crash. Of course we don't look right ffs

It's not about making excuses but this clearly was on a lot of players minds first game.
Its not easy to just get over these things and cos they are footballers just expecting them to get on with it doesn't make sense.

Either way.
I do hope the team manage to get stronger and more solid as the season goes.

Everyone said they’d take 3pts any which way we got them.

We got 3pts and will have built incredible resilience in the team doing it.

Absolutely brilliant, LOVE IT!!!

I thought Szoboszlai, Virgil, Gravenberch and Ekitike were magnificent. Big shout out to Jones too. Ali made some head scratching moments but gets a pass.

Rio was excellent when he came on. It felt like he was the only one to drive into their box second half and was in the right place at the right time to finish it off.

Someone said it in the match tread

Can’t believe it was Newcastle that lost four players in the battle.

VVD gets stud raked at pace and makes zero fuss

His reaction was sublime. Didn’t make a deal out of it. Just looked at Gordon, calm as you like and said look what you done.

has to be said though gordon was really good before he went off, shame he signed that contract extension

Where do i begin?

I have faith in Slot to sort this out, but these completely inept performances are on him.

You could see us try to take the sting out if the game and slow it down (ok i get that) but to just pass it sideways between the back 4 2 three times then Alisson hoof if upfield for their back 4 to then have the opportunity to muller out forwards in an aerial challenge was just fucking daft.

Of course their physical midfield pick up the 2nd balls, over and over.

Then to make matters worse, we did exactly the same when they had 10 pissing men. Wtf?

We didnt buy Wirtz to play like this surely? He must be wondering what the fuck is going on.

We invited all this duel shit on ourselves. Its a cliche but just fucking pass and move. Dont let these big lumps have the opportunity to clatter you.

We did that (pass the ball) errr.... 3 times in 100 mins. Scored 3 great goals.

We need to grow a pair, act like champions and play football. Slot can whinge all he wants about it not being a game of footy. We let that happen and it's mostly on him.

Empower the players to play football not keep harping on about winning duels.

Vvd reaction to the red card challenge, and to all the physical stuff was class.

Rio - i have no words - what an impact.

3 pts, very lucky. Slot has a reputation for being adept and making changes. Let's hope he's learning from his mistakes.

Looking forward to a vastly improved performance next week.

I know we went hard for Cacedio and failed but we really need to get a proper DM - I'm tired of seeing technical jack of all trades "modern" midfielders as an excuse for having a proper DM.

People are saying Konate is having a mare, but whne youre playing against 10 men, you shouldnt be in a postion where youre letting your defence get put under so much pressure in the first place.

Mac and gravy are head and shoulders above any other CMs we have. When one is missing, we struggle. For me, Newcastle are all about their midfield. Today was always going to be very tough.

Doesn’t excuse our own ineptitude today though.

Sell him and get Guehi. Can't get any worse. Pay that 40M and recoup it by selling the brain fart for the same price

Tonight only further highlighted what we already knew before, we don't need anymore examples of this.

We're short right the way through the spine of the team. Another CB needed, another DM needed and another CF needed (if we have no plans for a winger).

“ Tonali left the field with an arm injury, while Joelinton appeared to signal that he had tweaked his groin, as both were forced off during Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat to Liverpool at St James’ Park on Monday night.

With Anthony Gordon also suspended for Newcastle’s next three matches after being dismissed against Liverpool for violent conduct and Fabian Schar suffering concussion, Howe has lost four starters ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leeds United - plus Isak”.

Looks like we accidentally charged Newcastle 5 starters for the weekend 😆

Newcastle's next 3 opponents -- Leeds, Wolves, Bournemouth.

I hope those guys rest & recover well during this stretch, and show the same spunk when they host the Gunners after that.
