Paul Anderson completed a move from Liverpool FC to Championship side Nottingham Forest today.
Anderson, who grew up in Melton, has signed a three-year deal with the City Ground club after Liverpool agreed to sell the midfielder. The move was confirmed after he passed a medical this morning and marks a swift return to Nottingham for the 21-year-old who has been handed the prized number seven shirt by manager Billy Davies.

The former Melton Foxes player enjoyed a successful last season on loan at Forest despite picking up three separate injuries during his stint. It marks the end of a three-and-a-half-year association with the Merseyside giants for Anderson who joined them as a 17-year-old from Hull City in January 2006.

While not having made his dream debut for Liverpool, he was highly-rated by manager Rafa Benitez who gave him his first team squad number within months of his move to Anfield. The former John Ferneley School pupil was picked as a substitute for two Champions League matches against Benfica at Anfield and Galatassaray in Istanbul, but missed out both times.

He became a regular in Liverpool's reserves in his first two seasons and helped their youth team to win the FA Youth Cup, capping it with a man-of-the-match award in the first leg of the final which Liverpool won 3-0. He was sent on loan to League One outfit Swansea City for the 2007/08 season, winning the Young Player of the Year award as the Swans clinched promotion and the title

I hope theres some sort of sell on clause/buy back option, i think some time playing football will be good for him and he might make his way back to the premiership yet.

NOTTINGHAM Forest will this week beat Swansea City to the signing of winger Paul Anderson.

The Reds are close to securing a deal, believed to be worth in the region of £750,000 to land the Liverpool player, ahead of their Welsh Championship rivals.

Swansea had seemed to be the favourites to land the 20-year-old, despite the fact that he had spent last season on loan at the City Ground, starting 26 matches, making two substitute appearances and scoring two goals. But, following the departure of Swans boss Roberto Martinez to Premiership Wigan, Forest have swooped to capture the speedy wide man.

Anderson's campaign was partially thwarted by injuries, but Reds boss Billy Davies believes the Leicestershire-born player can be an integral part of his squad when he is fully fit. And, with Liverpool willing to do business for a player they rate highly – but who is still unlikely to make the breakthrough at Anfield – Forest are likely to make him a permanent addition to their ranks within the next few days.

If its 250k that's a bit shit. If its 750k that sounds more realistic.

Shame that after the big talk about him he never even managed to play 1 game for us

Nottingham Forest have completed their third summer signing in quick succession by landing Paul Anderson from Liverpool.

Forest have snapped up the winger, who spent last season on loan at The City Ground, in a £250,000 deal.

His arrival follows hard on the heels of the £1million capture of David McGoldrick from Southampton yesterday and the free transfer check-in of Dele Adebola from Bristol City this morning.

Anderson, 20, made 28 appearances for The Reds last season after missing the early part of the campaign through injury.

He scored two league goals and impressed many observers with his speedy performances and ability to operate on either flank.

Born in Melton Mowbray, he was on West Brom's books as a youngster but was released as a 16 year old. He joined Hull as an apprentice but before even making his first team debut was on his way to Liverpool in a deal worth £1.5million with £1million-rated John Welsh moving in the opposite direction.

He helped Liverpool land the F.A. Youth Cup and after establishing himself in their reserve side, he was named as a substitute for a Champions League game against Benfica - although he didn't get the chance to join the action.

He got his first taste of first team action during a season-long loan with Swansea in 2007-08. The Welsh club wanted him to return last term but he opted instead for a switch to Nottingham.

He has signed a three-year Forest contract.

That's shocking.

We better have some clauses in there ...

Hmmm. My understanding was that we didn't pay a fee for him. I thought we had himn on loan at first and eventually swapped him for Welsh.

The 1 million valuation of Welsh sounds a bit steep too. Can't imagine many would have paid that much for him at the time.

Incidently, the usually reliable lfchistory also has the selling fee at 250k. It also reports that Miki Roque has gone on a free.
