Phil Jones - the next one from the rumour mill.

I'm a bit gutted about this one really. I'd bought into this idea about him being a future england CB/captain and pictured Jones and Kelly at the heart of our defence in a few years time.

Worst still, he's gone to them.

Suddenly the prospect of Dann seems like a let-down.
 
I have a feeling Dann isnt next in line.

Id love us to sign Verthongen. Watched him against Turkey and he was ace!

Also, you don't get to be a top player without having phenomenal self-belief, so moving to Utd makes sense for him.

In fact I'd go as far to say any player who wasn't a Liverpool fan would be nuts to choose us over them.
 
He's essentially fighting to be Rio's back up with Smalling, a player Fergie seemingly trusted ahead of players like Brown/O'Shea. I agree with your last sentence though, I just wanted him to sign for us.

So I assume 100% signed on for the Manc twats?
 
Not to fussed about it really. Good player that he may be, I want players at Liverpool who want to play here and fight for the shirt.
 
Jones is a Utd fan isnt he? Not strange that he chose them when Fergie made his move.

A player Ferguson trusted ahead of 2 players he has just agreed to sell to Sunderland you mean?

Ferguson might have loyalty to some players but he is also extremely ruthless when he wants to be. Over the years he has ditched loads of experienced players without much notice and has also seemingly given chances to young players before very quickly changing his mind

If he buys Jones that means he will most probably play him
 
There's a very good chance of that, yes.

Ferguson doesnt care about the money, winning 12 titles makes him bullet-proof.

united are gonna be solid up front and solid at the back, and i imagine theyl make a big money signing for MF too

Nah, Smalling seems (unfortunately) like a great prospect. Jones & Smalling in 4-5 years time will be a very strong partnership (again, unfortunately)

That's OTT. At the moment most players would find it a lot harder to get into their side than to get into ours.
 
Yeah, they would, but I'd wager the majority of players would have phenomenal self-belief to get to that level, so they'd feel they could break into the team regardless.

Yeah you're probably right , probably 7/ 10 who choose them . But I reckon some might look at what Kenny is doing with youth players and think they have a better chance of 1st team football here and might be impressed by being part of a new project , taking us back right to the top. Those are the ones with real character .
 
Jones can also play at RB and DM - two positions they're pretty short of cover really.

Evans is pants and Smalling is of a similar experience level so he's got every chance of beating him to a spot. Also Rio is a crock.

Jones will have plenty of chances to play.

How can a young fella who is a professional athlete fail a medical? I read something about a dicky hammer he injured in Dec but he's been playing regularly since Feb. Weird. He'd probably pass a medical at LFC!
