PL Opposition Tidbits

Sorry but Sheff U is a yo-yo team and offers nothing to the Prem.
We've seen them get promoted and relegated several times in the past few years. It's boring football with same manager again.

Sunderland have a young and exciting team and the Tyne-Wear derby is one of the biggest derbies in England. I'd rather watch that over Newcastle Vs Sheff U.
But this is a new team. You can 't say because 'in the past few years'. Every season is different. And 14 points behind SU means that even though that Sunderland team are young and exciting they are also nowhere near good enough. Go up and they will be next season's Southampton.

They still have J.Robbo in defence...I mean come on.

Edit: and Kiefer fucking Moore up front..

According to the Grauniad the blueslime claim it's "one of the biggest naming rights deals in Europe" and that would place it in the region of £10 mill.per year.

From a company that makes a profit of £60 million a year. Nothing to see here. No dodgy dealings whatsoever.

They both deserve sacking regardless of the outcome of the Eurupa.

Firstly the league is always the key barometer of a managers performance and secondly the new CL format has sucked up whatever prestige was left in the Eurupa League. Both managers are fortunate they are in year one of the changes and a lot of people won't notice. In a few years the Eurupa league will have only marginally more respect as the Audi Cup or any other bullshit pre-season tournament. Given their budgets compared to elsewhere, the PL clubs should be clearing up in the EL the Conference league.

"We need that, for sure," he said about summer signings. "With the numbers that we started the season and [the numbers] to provide for next season, with the demands we're going to have and especially with the players that we have who are coming through long-term surgeries, it's very unrealistic [to deliver trophies].

"We know that, we have to address that and we're going to do everything we can to improve it.

"Especially because we are going to lose quite a lot of players. There are players out of contract, there are players who have come here on loan.

"So the squad becomes really thin on top of the injuries that we have. We know we have that duty, that necessity and we have players in the academy that can help. Great, but if not we know what we have to do."

I like Gyokeres and have for a while. There is legitimate uncertainty around all the links other than Isak and maybe Alverez, but I've seen enough of Gyokores to believe he would probably surpass both Jota and Nunez numbers over a year. Granted I'd like to have seen him tested a higher level than he has so far but we can pick holes in every target out there. At some point the club need to act and get something done, even if it's for marginal gains because the combination of Nunez and Jota aren't cutting it and never will.

"Mirror" reporting that they've agreed terms with Viktor Gyokeres.

Hasn't Playmohead spent around 750 million pounds since he took over? I am guessing with striker and Zubimendi, that should take it close to 900 million. I am surprised at the lack of pressure on him in the press due to his spending.

As predicted, Fraudiola is claiming the Community Shield is a trophy again, the massive melt.

"Of course, it's important to qualify, but except for Newcastle who won the Carabao Cup, Liverpool won the Premier League and Manchester City that won the Community Shield - the other teams didn't win trophies".

I’ll use it again.

It's a trophy alright...
A game where you're allowed to make 6 subs, yellow cards don't carry over to other competitions and red cards don't lead to suspensions.
