PL Opposition Tidbits

"Initially".

Wonder how KHL, late of this parish, feels about Hojlund's fall from grace.

Apparently Hojlund wants to stay and fight for his place. ManUre's Winston Bogaarde in the making?

What grace though? I thought everyone (bar KHL and whichever Manc cunt signed him) thought he was average at best and laughed at the inflated fee

I've got so much faith in Man United recruitment strategy I'm absolutely convinced they thought he'll be great just because he's a blonde Scando and his name is vaguely similar to Haaland

He certainly hasn't had a period of grace since he went there, but he must have shown promise beforehand for even that dysfunctional lot to buy him in the first place.

I think he scored about 8 goals in his best season in Serie A

I might be wrong though because I'm talking out of my arse so feel free to @grok is that true it

Sky Germany : Newcastle are now in 'concrete' talks with Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.

The Athletic (and Florian whatshisname) say : Newcastle United are considering a move for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa. The 21-year-old is high among the small number of options

The Times : Newcastle to make an improved offer for Wissa

Then there are Watkins and Jackson as options.

Football 365 has done some analysis on 5-year net spend by the current Premier League teams, including summer to date. Whilst there will inevitably be some inaccuracies in their data, they currently have Man United ahead of Chelsea at the top (we're 7th).
In that time, Man United have improved their league finish from 2nd in 20-21 to... checks notes... 15th last year.
Try not to hurt your sides.

In saying all that, having signed Cunha, Sesko and Mbueno, the players they’ve been now linked to are Beleba (Brighton will always sell at the right price) and Donaruma (apparently PSG want rid).

Add those two in and suddenly they don’t look so shit and more like a team that would be challenging at top end.

That wasn’t what I wanted to see on my bingo card - I was hoping for another season of comedy gold from Onana & Casemiro.

Next they’ll be looking at replacing Maguire with someone competent!!!!

That's why I took care to say "until now". Someone on the radio this morning was saying he could see them challenging for the top four or five and IMO that's going too far, but they'll be far more of an attacking threat than they have been for a while. Amorim's dynorodding that club in a way they've needed for well over a decade.

Enzo Maresca is reportedly having a fight with his board because he wants a new centre-back to cover for Levi Colwill.

It's a shame Chelsea didn't build a big squad to make sure there is cover for situations like this. Surprising really, since they are such geniuses.

Poor Enzo is only able to call on the following 8 (EIGHT) specialist centre backs:

Aaron Anselimo
Axel Disasi
Benoit Badiashile
Jorrel Hato
Mamadou Sarr (assuming he could be recalled from loan)
Tosin Adarabioyo
Trevor Chalobah
Wesley Fofana

And that's before re-deploying non specialists (Cucurella, Lavia?) or looking to youth.

I mean, admittedly they're mostly shit, but how ridiculous can things get?

I'd be a bit gutted if I was one of those guys. Him saying we need a new centre back is effectively saying all those others are shite.

This is what I don't get about everyone hyping Chelsea up - I've even seen a couple tipping them for the title. Is it all just based on the CWC?

Their first XI just isn't that good. None of their signings are top class - just more numbers, really. I'd be really surprised if they finished above 4th.

I've really missed his utterly retarded takes over the summer.
I wouldn't bother if I was an Arsenal fan, or I'd make a youtube channel and vent my frustration and make some money out of it all.
