They are just too much of a risk, they tend to be more miss than hit. I think we just need to avoid players from that league.

If our business with Serie A clubs over the last decade were to be summed up on an accounting sheet, I think it would make very dismal viewing.

Coutinho
Dossena
Aqua
Balo
Fabio

Are the main ones.

I'd say we shouldn't buy Italians myself.

Serie A players are not shit ... it's just that Liverpool do shit business when it comes to signing players from Serie A.

Let's have a look at the top signings away from Serie A in the last couple of seasons:

1. Zlatan - Milan to PSG
2. Thiago Silva - Milan to PSG
3. Lavezzi - Napoli to PSG
4. Cavani - Napoli to PSG
5. Marquinhos - Roma to PSG
6. Benatia - Roma to Bayern Munich

All quality players.

And this during a period in which Serie A has lost its golden status.

Three of the premier leagues greatest ever players Zola, Vieira and Henry came from Italy.

We are just shit at signing players from there as a rule.

I don't think the OP was suggesting that all Serie A players are shit though it was a bit blunt and random (I'm guessing it's borne out of fears over Balotelli).

I'd probably prefer to shop in other leagues also, particularly given our record there.

There are great players from Italy, but our track record has been poor. Coutinho was our only success from that league, and Mario is to early to judge. But the rest have been piss poor. What is that saying we have; "Once bitten twice shy"
