- when will he realise we just don't fucking care about him anymore.
Asked if he would go to England again if he could turn back the clock, Torres replied: "Definitely. Not just because of the professional experience but the personal one too. You start to see things in a different way, your perspective gets opened up."
"I owe Liverpool a huge amount," he said. "To the people, to the men in charge, to Benítez and his staff, to the city. Liverpool is a fundamental part of my life. They don't remember me that way, but time will change that.
"I could not have chosen a better place to go when I left Atlético. The other day when the news broke about Hillsborough, I felt emotional. I have experienced that, I know what the people have been through, I have seen them cry. I've lived that, I made it mine. This has arrived too late but it's another step [in the right direction]. And it is things like that that playing for Liverpool gives you: it's a feeling.
"I decided to leave because I had to take a step forwards. It wasn't the best way to have gone but nor were things exactly as they were sold [to people]. One day the truth will come out. In a sporting sense, nothing was happening; a new project was needed. We talked about that – about growth. My son is a Liverpool fan and he was already kicking a ball before he was one. He was born in the football city; he had no choice."

He often sounds like someone desperately trying to convince himself and everyone else that he made the right decision in leaving Liverpool.

He knows he made a mistake.

Stop castigating him for it.

I just feel a bit sorry for him tbh. He's won the medals he craved, but should have listened to Gerrard, without this club (or in his case, Atleti too) & the true love of their fans, they mean little.

*shrugs*

He needs to get over it foxy. It sounds borderline fake. "I shouldn't have left. Sure, I'm now richer than I would have been, and more successful, but still...... *sigh*"

He's hot to live with his decision the same way we do

You're as bad as Anita. He's hot indeed.

Right - 100%. I think he really does regret moving but time moves on and we all have short lives.

I don't hold a grudge. I loved it when he played for us and there are the great memories and spectacular goals to be thankful for.

I reckon he knew he'd made the mistake of his life the minute he put pen to paper. It's been written all over him ever since. Like Stevie before him, he had people whispering in his ear. Unlike Stevie before him, he made the wrong choice in the end.

The manner of his departure made me very angry but I haven't got it in me to hate the guy now. Like others on here, I feel sorry for him more than anything, and for quite a while we had a lot to thank him for.

If he says "one day the truth will come out" one more time I think I'll hire someone to set fire to his over-dyed hair.

He was great for us, my favourite ever player, but it was the right time for him and us to move on. Not his fault we blew all the money on a fucking donkey.

No, but had we spent that money well I think it'd be clearer to everyone how well we did out of his 3.5 years at the club, and that there's really no need to be bitter.

I still love Torres because he is such a graceful and elegant player to watch. Barring injury, I think he will have a good season and score a lot of goals - in fact I have already put my money where my mouth is.

I'll not forget how he just walked through games in his final few months. It was the most disgraceful attitude I've ever seen of a top class player. He doesn't deserve anything after that as far as I'm concerned.

I agree, although I can't enjoy watching him play simply cos he plays for those cunts, but his movement is just sublime at times.

I remain convinced if he had the right player behind him he'd be scoring for fun again.

Except we bought Suarez just for that and he didn't exactly give it a chance but instead chose to fuck off days before the transfer window closed. I can understand him being a bit sulky having to chase long punts up the pitch without a player within 50yards of him as he did under Roy, but he didn't exactly give Kenny a chance did he

I don't think that is particularly true. He scored two against Wolves and one against Blackpool that January and against Wigan, Bolton, West Brom, Blackburn and Chelsea during Woy's weign. He had also played for Spain in 2008 Euros, 2009 Confed Cup and the World Cup in 2010. He was probably shattered too.

It got so bad the staff called him and confronted him with the stats (which were so bad apparently Clarke in particular was stunned), and even then he couldn't give a damn.

The full story, for the right price, yep, i'd have him back in a flash.

FERNANDO TORRES has revealed his debt to Liverpool FC and says the club remains “a big part” of his life.
The Spaniard left Anfield in acrimonious circumstances, completing a British record £50m move to Chelsea on the final day of the January 2011 transfer window, having informed the Reds of his desire to quit the club after three-and-a-half years on Merseyside.

He has since struggled for form at Stamford Bridge, though he collected FA Cup and Champions League winners medals last season, as well as winning Euro 2012 with Spain during the summer.
The 28-year-old, though, says he retains a strong affection for Liverpool. Torres scored 81 goals in 142 games at Anfield after moving from Atletico Madrid in 2007, and was hugely popular with supporters.
He maintains that the truth about his decision to leave the club is not yet fully known.
He told Spanish newspaper El Pais: “I owe Liverpool a huge amount. To the people, to the men in charge, to (Rafa) Benítez and his staff, to the city. A huge amount.
“Liverpool is a fundamental part of my life. They don’t remember me that way, but time will change that. I could not have chosen a better place to go when I left Atlético.
“I decided to leave because I had to take a step forwards. It wasn’t the best way to have gone but nor were things exactly as they were sold [to people].
“One day the truth will come out. In a sporting sense, nothing was happening; a new project was needed. We talked about that – about growth.
“My son is a Liverpool fan and he was already kicking a ball before he was one. He was born in the football city; he had no choice.”
The striker also hailed last month’s Hillsborough Independent Panel findings, which cleared Reds supporters of any blame in the 1989 stadium disaster, and has since been followed by the news that “the largest ever review of police conduct” will be held by the Independent Police Complaints Commission, and that fresh inquests into each of the 96 victims will be held, with the original verdicts of “accidental death” overturned.
“The other day when the news broke about Hillsborough, I felt emotional,” Torres said. “I have experienced that, I know what the people have been through, I have seen them cry. I’ve lived that, I made it mine.
“This has arrived too late but it’s another step [in the right direction]. And it is things like that that playing for Liverpool gives you: it’s a feeling.”

This - It's not that he left, its who he went to and the timing that is my problem, if he had moved abroad to Barca or Madrid (yes I know). It's like a knife going into me when he scores.
He deserves stick and he is coming across like a tool with all thus lurve stuff.
Would I have him back? - absolutely

Quite right Vlad and as far as wanting the team to be strengthened ( "a new project was needed " ) with the signing of Suarez just before he left and the massive outlay in the following transfer window, he hasn't got an argument about being misled about investment in the team AT ALL. I cant stand all this crybaby bollocks about loving the city etc etc when everyone knows he fucked off at the last minute for a massive payrise.

The worst thing about all this is Kenny had us playing really well when he came in,and Suarez and Torres could have been a sensational partnership. Guess we'll never know and maybe that ampifies the antipathy towards him.

I don't think Torres made a mistake in leaving. Someone with his reputation shouldn't be playing for a club with our recent history. It rarely happens.

But I also don't think we made a mistake in selling him. We raped Chelsea.
