So... Gareth Bale

Spending 100-120mill quid in one window with no champions league football? Even if they had that coming in it might only be an extra 20mill. Spurs have had a net spend over the last few years of 10-20mill max.
Don't remember them spending that much this summer.

It is possible to agree a fee and make it subject to certain conditions - getting replacements or whatever etc.

I would imagine the fee is agreed, Spurs are in the middle of doing their business and will sign off Bale very soon.

They're not going around spending money they won't have.

I've always been under the impression our paperwork delay with Suarez could only be explained by the deal being contingent on the sale of Torres. The Suarez deal got approval at exactly the same time as the Torres deal was announced and the financial state of the club would indicate that was the case too.

Ballague said on Revista that Madrid first offered 100mill in 6 payments, which spurs umm'd and arr'd over and complained over the 6 payments but sort of agreed to it, he then said that due to this upsetting gay ronaldo(!!) that came back with an offer of 90mill euros in one payment. Spurs have not yet replied to this offer and are 'considering it'.

He's making it out that it's not so much waiting until replacements have been signed, but the deal isn't actually done yet.

If that's the case, I hope madrid fuck them.

As funny as it would be to see Real either pull out or offer less, I still think Spurs is a way better side with Bale playing. He was super human for them last season. I don't think 1 or 2 attacking players in his place would improve them. So I still kind of hope he fucks off abroad.

I'm really struggling to think of something to say in relation to this picture.

The toe man.... Look at the fucking toe.... His second toe is longer than his big toe - that can't be right.

It looks like he has Oncey's cock for a toe...

Bale seems to be doing his best to emulate Ronaldo recently with all the suspect outfits. The 2 of them are either going to bum buddies or utterly loathe each other.

That typifies Ronaldo that he'd be pissed off about Bale breaking his transfer record. I could see him wanting to leave just for the sake of breaking the record again.

Some speculation that Spurs are dragging this deal out towards the last days of the window to scupper Arsenal's chances of buying a couple of Madrid players.
Can't see it happening myself but good on them if it is true.

Gareth bale or lamela, Soldado, the great dane, paulinho, that monster dm, chadli?

They've done fucking brilliantly spending that money. I'm massively jealous.

[article]One of the most respected business newspapers in Spain has come out with a sensational claim on Sunday surrounding the long-running transfer sage that is Gareth Bale’s transfer from Spurs to Real Madrid.

Forget what you have read all summer in Marca and AS as well as the English papers – Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid is NOT done, according to Diego Torres in El Pais.

The big star of the show, according to Torres and for Spurs fans is Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy – nicknamed “The Kamikaze” in this piece.

It claims Real Madrid agreed a civil agreement with Gareth Bale and his advisers in mid-July: If the Welsh forward is not playing for the Spanish giants by the 3rd of September, 2013, they will need to pay the player 20 million euros.

Real Madrid have denied such an agreement but Levy believes it to be true and the article does claim that the Spurs chairman and Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett are a lot closer than the media would have you believe.

Last Tuesday, according to El Pais, Levy rejected a “take it or leave it final” 100 million euro offer for Bale from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

The Tottenham chairman believes he hold all the cards and is happy to give Gareth Bale the time off, should he stay at White Hart Lane, believing the player’s value will remain if he leaves next summer.[/article]

The monkey has spoken, pretty standard.
  • Boyhood dream club
  • Thank the fans
  • Always in my heart

"I have had six very happy years at Tottenham but it's the right time to say goodbye. We've had some special times together over the years and I've loved every minute of it.

“I would like to thank everyone at the Club, the Chairman, Board, staff, coaches and players – and most of all the fantastic fans who I hope will understand this amazing career opportunity.

“I am not sure there is ever a good time to leave a club where I felt settled and was playing the best football of my career to date. I know many players talk of their desire to join the club of their boyhood dreams, but I can honestly say, this is my dream come true.

“I am well aware that I would not be at the level I am today were it not for firstly Southampton and then Spurs standing by me during some of the tougher times and affording me the environment and support they have.

“Tottenham will always be in my heart and I’m sure that this season will be a successful one for them. I am now looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life, playing football for Real Madrid."

I think Frank should start pointing to the sky again every time he bags a goal

I can't believe this guy is the most expensive footballer of all time. He's good, but that good?

I kinda hope Barca sell Messi for 200m to PSG and then buy him back for 200m +1p to put the record straight!

The transfer fee doesn't always reflect on the skill of the player.
Exhibit A: Andy Carroll.

He'll do well, but he won't reach anywhere near the likes of 'Galacticos' past and present. It's a bit of a travesty that he is the most expensive footballer ever, and it's a fee dictated more by Real's need to outdo Barca and make a statement, rather than a fair reflection of the lad's football ability.
