So who do we want/expect/hope?

Capello for me. Despite the unsuccessful stint as England manager, his record at club level is almost impeccable.

Anyone metioned fraud Hiddink yet, neither him or martinez no thanks.

Unrealistic wants Klopp/Maureen
Realistic Cappello / AVB / Lippi / Van Gaul proven winners only none of this young lets take a risk please.

I want a clever, strong DOF and an intelligent, flexible, tactically astute manager.

Fuck the proven, world class bollocks.

Of the three Oncy's specified it would have to be Capello for me. Larry White's got precious little club pedigree (nor any management pedigree of any sort outside France) and it completely and utterly amazes me that anybody would seriously consider AVB for a role which will be at least as fraught as the Chelsea job was.
JJ. I think you are mistaken re-Blanc.
He is a decorated player at the highest level.
He took over an average bordeaux side and in his first year got second and won a cup (amd manager of the year) in his second year he won three trophies including bordeauxs first title in ten years.
Then he took over the French national team that was a joke, a total mess and has turned them around totally. Only losing 2 games in 2 and a half years.
His record since he stepped into management in 2008 is fantastic:

Team Nat From To Record
G W D L Win % GF GA +/-
Bordeaux 8 June 2007 16 May 2010 150 90 28 32 60 248 153 +95
France 2 July 2010 Present 20 12 6 2 60 29 9 +20
Total 170 102 34 34 60 277 162 +115

Money for AVB in last 30 mins or so. 3/1 and shorter elsewhere (though it takes fuck all to move a "next maanger" market).

I remember his Chelsea team imploding.
Was that mainly down to him trying to change the playing style and "senior2 members of the squad refusing and running to the owner. Chelsea is a unique job in football no other clubs players have such an influence over its owner.

Pistolero: not convinced, I'm afraid. Villas Boas was handpicked by Abramovich and had all the backing he needed to have made a success of that job. Difficult as it may have been, that was why he was on big money.

and he'll make us wish we were watching paint dry while he drags us down
Your anti Capello stance is ridiculous.
Its like me saying I dont want Messi.

Come on judge he wanted to clear out the bad influences but they all just ran to ambramovich and didn't even attempt to adopt his football philosophy. He backed them and not the manager he had no chance from the off if the players don't even try for you. I would like to think our lot aren't like there cunts.

So basically, he's a great manager but hasn't managed a shit team which has one viable star (Suarez, who'll leave). I don't know if he's a miracle worker, but if it's him or McLeish, I guess I'll take the Eyetalian.

I absolutely hate the way people refuse to look at the circumstances and instead throw random stats and trophies out as arguments in favour and against their choice of manager.

it's retarded

There hasnt been a club in our situation before. Every situation is different.
Looking at those who are good at winning trophies is a good starting point.

Be interesting to see how he does in a league where you can't buy the referees

Case in point. had a penalty shoot out gone his way he'd be a CL winner.

and a tactical genius by default apparently.

He almost won the league that year too.

To be honest, if we're going to rebuild properly, we need a brash, confident and tactically brazen manager. I like Pesam's choice of Lambert
