Don't want to think about it. I would rather he was still here next season. Spurs antics this season have proven that sometimes its better to keep the world class player you have rather than trying to buy a bunch of new ones.
That depends entirely on which stage of the rebuilding process you are, and what utility that player has served to you so far. If you are (a) far away from a title challenge; or (b) have already extracted substantial utility from that player (in winning titles), it makes sense to cash in.
If you're however on the verge of a title challenge, and the player in question has at least 2-3 years of world class football left in him, it makes no sense to cash in regardless of how much is offered. That's the position in we are now.
Spurs were in a tricky position. (a) Bale was certain to leave, and (b) they didn't have CL football and were at least 3-4 top class signings away from sustaining a title challenge even if they did keep Bale. All things considered, it made sense for them to sell Bale and use the money to strengthen their squad. What went wrong is that they made the wrong big money signings. I still don't think its really gone tits up there though. Still a load of talent in that squad, and with some good management, they can be back in the mix soon.
We should (fingers crossed) be in a very different position to Spurs come May. If we finish in the top 4 within 6-8 points of the winners, you'd have to consider us very capable of sustaining a title challenge for the next 2-3 years. In that scenario, its stupid to want to sell Suarez at any price. We want him spearheading that challenge.
If however we'd struggled this season, and finished 15-20 points off the top, it would've made all the sense in the world to cash in on him and use the money to rebuild.
