Some papers are reporting he is protesting his innocence.

Given everyone thay supported him got the boot and the naming rights rumours .... its not clever is it?

If that's what he believes then thats what it is, no body can do anything about it...

What do you propose we do? Sell him to Barca for 10 million? Because he protested his innocence?

It seems you have opened your mouth on the subject again...

It's going to get very ugly very soon...

If I had been convicted of a crime that I didn't commit then I would form a crack team of mercenaries and drive around in a GMC van helping the less fortunate.

In failing that, I'd tell everyone within within earshot that I was innocent, and then write a book about how I would have gotten away with the crime, if I had actually done it.

What were we talking about again?

Maybe its really clever, no power structure in place, re-open the wound cause a stink and get a transfer. Genius.

Whatever way you cut it it is an utterly selfish statement.

Why should he accept that he is a racist? Because no one is bigger than the club?

Give me a break...

There is a limit to the "no one is bigger than the club"

It is a person's fundamental right to protest his innocence. Even murderers get a chance....Luis Suarez can't say that he was wronged because he plays for Liverpool?

I think some of you have clearly lost perspective and there is no point in debating this either...fucking warped..

Ermm.... how about he just shut the fuck up and leave it in the past maybe.... why do you think its a good odea for him to drag it out again?? 2 days after Taylor has stated that the PFA will be looking to make racism sackable ... the same week as players families will not be going to Ukraine for fear of it... It is almost as go as not shaking the mans hand while hundreds of millions of people watched. He is a fucking dick IMO or of course he is genuinely trying to engineer enough stink to make us have to sell him.

Because he doesn't believe he did what he has allegedly done...

You won't get it, until and unless you are in that position.

Suarez was the victim of a shocking injustice. He was comprehensively stitched-up by the FA at the behest of Ferguson. The FA punished an innocent man just so that they could puff out their chests and demonstrate how fantastically anti-racist they are. They are truly vile people. I hope that Suarez will continue to protest his innocence and that some day he will get justice - although quite frankly that seems an impossible dream.

Oh so its me who doesnt understand ... i just thought maybe MAYBE picking a fight which at best would be a Pyhrric victory might not be such a good idea right now.... nor right then nor right ever in fact. Perhaps he neds us to show him some more loyalty..... maybe he feels that his honour is worth far more than the teams financial future with sponsors or the press.

You are right, maybe at the time he didnt put any protest and left us in a doubt as to his own onnocence and its right for him to have waited for it to calm down so that he could avoid getting in trouble with the vindictive FA and irrelevent and unimportant press corps...

What drugs are you lot fucking smoking??

It's not a good idea for you may be mate.....but to Suarez clearing his name could be more important than anything else. If he felt that way, we can't sit here and say that's not good for our club...he shouldn't be doing that...

For fucks sake....i give up...

By the way whatever happened to the John Terry racism affair?

What happened to the court verdict? and did the FA do anything else after that?

He was asked about the incident by a foreign tv station and decided to speak simply because he feels he wasn't given a fair shake by the English media.

Clearly Suarez doesn't believe that he is a racist and I'm inclined to believe him. If what he said is culturally acceptable then he shouldn't be castigated but rather educated.

Evra's contribution to this entire saga has been conveniently papered over. Why? Let's not forget his previous run in with the FA where he was deemed unreliable.

Needless to say, its time to move on.

I do not agree at all KJ, because you are totally wrong. It is that simple.

We can as fans say its not good for the club because it is not good for the club.... he says he is innocent, has done everything he could to protest that innocence including grandstanding in front of millions of viewers and yet he thinks it is a good idea to yet again drag the club into a row it cannot and will not win. All of this done knowing that it is one thing that can ruin the reputation of the club in an era where sponsors and the like are key to our survival as a competitive outfit.

There is absolutely NOTHING to gain from that interview either for him or for the club, it kicks open the hornets nest yet again and the only way it will lead if it is followed through to its logical conclusion is his sale.... he is holding all the cards...no doubt the sale will be at a knock down price to another team in the champs league ensuring a nice little pay rise for himself into the bargain....

It fucking stinks IMO, or at least has the possibility of fucking stinking.

It is not hard to understand, its like smashing your face repeatedly against a brick wall while claiming that the wall is unfair.

It is one of the stupidest, most selfish or most clever (if he wants a move) interviews i have ever seen.

I cannot understand how anyone could support him in this.

The point of this thread is to query the wisdom of speaking out again. Not to rehash the incident and subsequent punishment.

So lets try to stay on topic for once

Basically if sponsors were put off by the incident, it seems daft to bring it up again. Unless he is trying to force the clubs hand.

Apparantly FSG has actually reached an agreement with Suarez that they will release him (to Real or Barca) but he has to stir things up a bit during the summer while at home or on int'l duty so the owners can get rid without upsetting the fans too much and I just made that up.

I was Rosco. I'm glad that you agree with me, it is a fucking bollox move from Suarez.

So he should relinquish his fundamental right, because our sponsors don't like it?

Now that you put it like that...it all makes sense.

He has the fundamental right to protest his innocence.

If Liverpool FC do not wish him to have that right under their employ that should have been dealt within a contract with a confidentiality clause.

If not they can do no more than ask him to refrain. They're powerless in this situation.

The fact that Suarez is innocent cannot be excluded from the topic. You may not think it is a big deal, but I'm sure Suarez doesn't think that way. I certainly wouldn't. It's not in my eyes a principle of natural justice that innocent people who have been reviled and punished should keep their mouths shut - although I know that many innocent convicts prefer to stay in prison rather than confess their crimes which is usually a condition of being released on probation.

In short YES.

Unless he really wants to start an unwinnable fight dragging himself and the club right through it again and in doing so probably preempt a move then yes he should have indeed fucking shut the fuck up.

Why is this thread not entitled 'Suarez continues to protest his innocence'?

Why "opens his mouth".

Says everything: convicted on a probability and told to shut up if he thinks he's had a raw deal. Stinks.

Well if he was asked in an interview, he has every right to carry on protesting his innocence. Why should he lie? He's not dragging it out. He was asked a question and he answered it.

And of course the media orgasmed as soon as he did.

Basically if sponsors were put off by the incident,

How the fuck do you KNOW this - on the board at SC ?

SC got a lot of stick from institutional investors at their recent agm for the questionable BENEFIT and VALUE to the company of the shirt sponsorship, its got NOTHING to do with Suarez AT ALL
