It does to me anyway. I’m like a giddy kid eagerly anticipating the weekend’s games. I was disillusioned with football there for a while. I was only watching our games and it wasn’t the end of the world if we lost. A bad state of affairs when losing didn’t matter that much anymore. I’d usually not bother with Swansea vs Spurs but i’ll be watching it Sunday roaring on Swansea. Everton losing means more than usual these days. I’m watching more games and generally interested again in football.

Is anyone else noticing a rise in your own personal interest in the game again? I’m going to overlook what’s wrong with the game at the mo, wages, corruption, sensational coverage of game etc. because fuck it, we’re in the mix up in mid Jan and it feels great.

Yeah, not being shit undoubtedly makes you more interested in the game because you have more of a stake in it. This season is a huge improvement in the entertainment stakes over the last few.

I'm starting to care more again.

I'm watching a couple of games from foreign leagues too

It's like a perfect build up to the world cup this season

I'm watching most premiership matches again.

I went through a couple of season's only watching our games.

It's exciting being in the mix (or the conversation as Brendan would say).

Ditto to @ILD . The fact that so many teams are involved at the top (and that United are shite this season) all helps !

I'm well aware that rule no.1 of the "how to be a football fan" guide states that you should follow your team through thick and thin but fuck it was hard in recent seasons not to get disillusioned . We were a massive club spending big money yet were being run and managed by multiple numpties who were failing in their jobs. It was a very frustrating period .

I've never demanded that we win everything left , right and centre but we should at least compete. We're doing that now so like you guys i've alot more interest in the game overall . Guess it helps also that Everton and spurs are now "on the scene", there seems to be a massive top of the table clash each week now .

I just love watching us play in general nowadays cause we play some great stuff. I could watch Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling all day. They get me up out of my seat. I'm totally with you on this one too @ILD being in the mix and with the league being so open makes it exciting times.

I used to avoid Match Threads on here. Ha

In fact, in Dalglish's last seasons I used to avoid watching Liverpool play unless we were 2 goals up with 10 minutes remaining. Even then I'd keep whispering to myself "It's just a game..it's just a game..."

Last week really kicked into over drive for me. Five goals away at Stoke. Really enjoyed that win. It was hairy for a moment when Walters scored but Sturridge went down the other end and showed his class. I don't think he received enough plaudits for that little recovery after his initial shot. The little header to set it for himself was beautiful.

The derby game is huge in two weeks time.

Football is officially back in my mind.

This happened to me when Budgie was manager, I only watched Liverpool games (and got increasingly angry / bitter because of it). I've gradually started watching other games now, but still nowhere near as much as I used to.

"but lethal Liverpool will take some stopping"
The above snippets from an article Doc Mac posted inspired me to create this thread.

On a side note, Sturridge back + Oncy back posting = GOOD FUCKING NEWS.

As Gene would say, EAT MY EQUATIONS.

When are you over next Dave and more importantly, are you bringing my boy Sean?

Im over for the city game in April Pete. Sean is gone back to Vancouver but is itching to get over again. I'm going to nag him to join the forum. I think cinderella would be a good username for him.

It's down for Sat 12th April 3pm kick off but I presume it will be moved to the televised game.

Yes Andy you beardy motherfucker, get involved!

I assume the match will either be 5.30 on the sat or they will make it the Sunday 4pm.

Im going to check if FA cup is scheduled for that weekend and if not im going to risk some flights soon.

Hope it's on the sat, towns always better and I won't be able to get as pissed on the Sunday if I'm working the next day.

Pete if it Sunday kick off we might hit the ale on the Saturday night and take it easy on the sunday. Four of us coming over and Andy also in. JACKPOT.

It's good feeling the pressure of having to win rather than just the hope of wanting to win.

It's definitely better being in the mix, not to mention banging goals in.

It was depressing shit for a few years. Particularly when you'd stay in on a friday night and get at 6:30 am in canada and see liverpool lose to wigan or some other cunts. It's great when other teams matches are of importance to you. Ot's great being ahead of man united. It's great watching suarez score for fucking fun. Can't wait for the city game.

Another good thing is not having all the off the field shite.

Focusing on football rather than G&H, Purslow, Being Liverpool, Ayre, Chang, Racism, Biting

I don't even think it's the fact we are in the mix as I think a lot of fans would admit to a nagging feeling that we will fall away eventually. It's more down to the fact bar Man City we are the most entertaining team to watch in the league. For years it was Utd and arsenal and even to a degree Spurs. But now if your own team isn't playing I think most neutrals would watch Liverpool first. Sure Man city score more but there is almost a boring inevitability about their games ending in a drubbing for the opposition. While with Liverpool, you don't know what to expect, a hat trick from Suarez, a master class from Coutinho, blistering runs of Sterling, studges dance or even a passionate celebration from Hendo. Top that off with the possibility at any given time we can lose, play shite, or bite someone Liverpool are by far and away the most exciting team of this season to watch.

My Sunday mornings are routinely consisting of starting watching footie in my livi g room at 1130pm and staying til 630am.
But this season it's been worth it so far!
