The Italian stallion

And have any Juve fans actually claimed offense? Different story if so.

Its the brave woke new world where people love getting offended on someone else's behalf.

Tbh I didn't like the 'crying in Turin' lyric when I first heard it but we rarely have any songs that are nasty about other players or teams, it's not the Liverpool way. Steve Bruce's big fat head, which even he laughs at? Manchester is full of shit? Chelsea rent boys, which is now effectively banned. Any others?

And if we were going to sing about Heysel, why start 40 years later?

In any case, the song is Chiesa saying fuck off Juve, I'm a kopite now. His words after they treated him shabbily, not Liverpools.

Chelsea rent boys is definitely more offensive than this or any of the other songs imo.

Glad it's been retired. Although, with their loan Army it's perhaps more relevant than ever.

The Chelsea rent boys thing annoyed me because they were implying it was homophobic, whereas I would contest it's more likely to be seen as critical of sex workers.

This is the kind of utter nonsense that makes me think this might not be a simulation. Who would even make an issue out of this, out of all the infinite monkeys? We might actually be living out a reality in which there's a big fat dickhead pretending to be offended so he can earn about a thirtieth of a pence every time someone disagrees with him.

That would be Tony Evans.

Isn't the key point here is that it’s Chiesa telling Juventus to “fuck off” after being pushed out of the squad, denied a pre-season, and told to find a new club. It isn’t Liverpool fans, or the club, directing that at Juventus. The “crying in Turin” line is about the fact that Chiesa was well liked and popular with their supporters. When he scored for us, their subreddit was full of people saying how happy they were for him and how much they missed him. For me, it’s nothing more than a storm in a teacup and engagement farming. If Juventus fans care, or kick up a fuss, then it might be a different story, but some journalist that is annoyed or offended on their behalf? Arsed.

Excuse me, WTF is wrong with you now?
My post wasn’t aimed at you. Did I quote you? It was just my view and chants focussed on negativity of others are shite. Not that I need to expain anything to you.

It was meant to be a joke because the song says fuck off, and it's fun to say fuck off, which is, in my opinion, the only level that that lyric is operating on.

Boy is it operating though.

So you misinterpreted what I was saying, and I'm ok with that, is the point, now anyway.

It's really not as fun explaining it though, so I'll leave you with one thought...

I think it's long overdue we looked at other songs. This issue isn't an isolated incident.

Gerrards song is like a beacon of toxic masculinity. The concept of hardness is not a useful one to a population suffering from an epidemic of loneliness.

Is it really appropriate for us to celebrate the consumption of sangria? Most new evidence seems to be pointing to the idea that even moderate consumption of alcohol is unhealthy, with long term significant consequences.

Scouser tommy trivializes the horrible cost paid by the young in war.

Considering climate change, is it really appropriate for us to constant attest that after a storm comes a golden sky? What of the drowning victims? It's like a call to arms for climate denialists.

I think there's every chance that whoever came up with it didn't click, because we bought the player from Juve. If it was from fiorentina it would probably been not too dissimilar. Bella ciao was (for some reason, possibly due to it's anti-fascist message) popular on social media last year and we've dived on it.

Obviously it would be ideal not to reference Juve, or crying in turin, but no one has mentioned it until now. Rivals would fucking adore to pull us apart for something and this could have been seen as low hanging fruit....yet no one did. It took our own journalists (one of which implied klopp had a gay relationship with little evidence) to highlight a link. It seems like it was done not out of some desire for justice, but for outrage clicks to a failing journo who's been pushed well out the sphere.

As I said before, context is important, but rarely used.

If we change the chant I'm ok with it. If we don't I'm ok with it. But they beat not stop singing it, as it's a belter

Klopp, wait what. Was this Evans?

It's political correctness gone mad isn't it.

I don't think it's very fair that's we say that Jota was better than Figo so nonchalantly. I think we need to refer it to the takes that might be bad committee

Can't believe the kop would be so disrespectful to sing the song still tbh. He has relatives who are still very upset.

Wait till Tony Evan’s finds out that Firmino didn’t score every time he got the ball. We are fucked

Yep, you were defo operating on some other plan I can see that.
Well like I said, this is where context can get lost… I was on about Tony Evans line rather than rest of the song.

Not fan of sweary based chants myself though in general, a bit too small club feel for me. The ones I like Bobby, Torres, Salah, Mane, Virgil just transcend personally. Well I don’t remember any swearing in them anyway…

[Gattuso] on Chiesa's omission from Italy NT: "I spoke with Fede, it was a shared decision. He didn’t feel ready to return, he wants to be 100%. We decided it together very calmly."

Sounds like Chiesa has received assurances from Slot that he'll be given more chances this season. So instead of the 90th minute he'll come on around the 80th minute mark.
Progress...
