The new number 9…

Isak is the gold standard for striker this summer, but entirely unreasonably priced

Id be happy going for silver standard with room to grow. Ekitike, Sesko, etc, I'm not opposed.

If we managed to get Ekitike, guehi and a young backup winger for the cost of Isak, would anyone complain?
Nope

Jota, Nunez out. Isak in.

Diaz will cover / rotate for the front 3 positions with Szobo as the backup. Maybe another young forward if Elliot or Morton leaves. They will all get plenty of game time.

Are you suggesting he should be a Liverpool target? He reminds me of Alvarez in look and play. Only 20, he has a long way to go with 8 goals and 5 assists in 2300 minutes. No way Liverpool ready

Well, I think the club can replace Jota, if the right offer arrives, with a prospect style striker with potential. There's more than one way to approach our overhaul of the central striking position. If we accept that there's no value at the top end of the market, the next stop is to find someone who contributes more than Jota over 60 games. That doesn't take much currently.

Plus I'm bored rigid of reading about the same pool of five over valued players and it's interesting to know who is on the next wave of attacking talent.

You are right about Jota he cannot stay fit. Since the club has money to bid for Isak then why not get both Ekiteki and Osimhen and sell Jota? As it currently stands, both are an upgrade on Nunez and Jota.

Looking at who we are possibly selling according to rumours
Trent £10m (SOLD)
Harvey Elliott £40m
Quansah £30m
Jo £30m
Robbo £8m
Kev £12m SOLD
Doak £25m
Morton £15m
Gordon £5m
Nunez £50m
Cheesy £20m
We could be looking £200m plus in sales if we achieve near the above values

It depends who we sold.
Agree that could colour it massively. In my mind it's just the expected ones sold still (Nunez, harvs, quansah, Robbo, Morton, chiesa, Ramsay, maybe Doak). So Diaz, Jota, Gomez, tsimi remain

I think it'll be borderline incompetence to buy Wirtz and not utilise one of his strength, which is finding players in the box.
Yeah, we've got Jota, but we really need another fox in the box type striker.

Character. The guy's an industrial strength A-hole who falls out with coaches left, right and centre. Good player but not worth the risk IMO.

In terms of squad building, tactics and team set up it definitely makes sense to sell Darwin and get a new nr 9.
Just shit that there aren't that many good options at the minute.

Just a quick check, Salah has scored 177 Premier League goals from inside the box. Diaz 27, Gakpo 22 and Mac Allister 19.

Do you actually watch our games?
You're listing Gakpo and Salah, the biggest cut inside and shoot merchants in the history of cutting inside and shooting as players in the box.

None of them are in the box the way Haaland is in the box for instance or Jota for that matter.

They aren’t goal hangers but they go in between full backs and centre backs INSIDE THE BOX and score.

Mac and Slobby are always in and around the box. Diaz likes to go behind the centre backs too.

Yes there's some box presence, but I'd like us to have someone who's there to finish off chances the way Nunez couldn't.
