The new number 9…

Now that we’ve gathered information, we can start to monitor the shit out of Ekitike.

@moron you may begin asking @bluebell ”whats going on, has this guy signed yet???” every single day, now that he has found a way to get Twitter plugged directly into his brain.

If Slot is willing to work with him (huge if) then I can see a world where Osimhen and Nunez effectively swap in separate deals. I think he has everything needed to do well here, but whether they want him being a headache for 4/5 years is another matter. I don't think Slot would tolerate anything, TBH, and his directness isn't something egotistical/big character players are ready and willing to hear. That's one for management to gage after a deep-dive on him/meeting him, but from what I've read there's too many red flags knocking about. Maybe he would mature for one last shot at the big time during his peak years, but that's exhausting my limits of hope.

As for his relationship with Napoli, it's only fair to say they have significantly contributed to strained relationship with them - racist social media posts, mocking videos of missed penalties, 3 coaches since he signed, so it's not all one way, but he's also burnt more than one bridge in his time.

Agree Osimhen would upset the dressing room and probably try and engineer a move after six months. It makes me wonder how Klopp came to the conclusion that Nunez wasn't a dickhead though.

I thought Nkunku would make Chelsea unstoppable (like I did when they signed Torres and Shevchenko). Would people consider him if it was cheap and didn't help Chelsea out too much?

Depends on whether it was Klopp or the statto’s that originally pegged him.

It feels like a Chiesa purchase for about the same sort of money but also one that would make more sense as in “addition to” rather that “instead of”.

For all his faults, I don't think Nunez is a disruptive influence in the dressing room

Ian Graham said the stattos were plugging Isak but Klopp chose Nunez. Isak speaks English and not a knobhead, should've swung it.

Gakpo has never fully convinced me and I think it was Lijnders plugging that transfer. Feels more natural FSG putting the data nerds in charge again.

Just read some article saying that Klopp preferred Nunez over Isak.

Just some revisioniat bullshit from Ian Graham. I recall when it came out a few years ago, the story was that the nerds wanted Nkunku and Klopp wanted Darwin.

Very convenient to adjust that narrative now.

How come no one else recalls this ?

I remember it. He definitely said Nkunku was the alternative target. It does seem a bit suspicious not to have mentioned Isak at the time, but maybe he was another alternative or something.

I actually think Nkunku looked really good the couple of times I've seen him. Is it just injuries that went wrong at Chelsea? I wouldn't be TOTALLY against taking a punt on him if we could get him cheap enough.

Maybe not disruptive but the twitter meltdowns, daft red cards and throwing seats at fans def puts him in the dickhead camp for me. And the hair! He just seems pretty immature.

I'd also say that not really speaking English after 3yrs prevents him from adding much to dressing room cohesion.

There are guys in the squad who spoke fluent Spanish like Trent. He understood English enough to know what the instructions were.
He was extremely unlucky with us and hopefully he smashes in in saudi

If he turned out anything like the last 'Chelsea reject' we bought, I think I could live with that!

I wonder why we are not doing those 7-9 years contracts like Chelsea is?

I know it could bite us back both ways but our recruitment's been pretty good, more hits than misses so on average it should work out better especially if we are bringing them in on big transfer fees. I'm just wondering what kind of astronomical wages we have to pay Wirtz in 5 years times when he is in his prime and probably wanted by everyone else.

I'd definitely be looking to push it up to six given Real Madrid start their tapping up 2 years in advance.

Not sure I could ever warm to any idea that gives the likes of Naby Keita 7-9 years at this club, though!

I think with the calibre of player we are signing they will not want to sign 7+ year deals. Frankly, if a player is happy to sign a 7-year deal, it doesn't speak much of their ambition (either to negotiate a better deal in a few years time or to push on to a bigger / different club). We don't need plodders. We'd also end up paying more in agent's fees (as they are typically a percentage of the guaranteed salary and image rights over the term of the contract).
We've seen loads of times in the past where players sign new deals and then go off the boil for a bit. We need our guys hungry.
That said, I do think we should take a leaf out of United's books and include options for an additional year at the club's choice in our deals. It would have helped with Trent, for example.

If Isak is kicking up a stink at Newcastle and its true we are working on Ekitike then, we could have a possibility of a front two of Ekitike and Isak. The money come would from the sale of Diaz, I guess

Don’t think Osimhen is a trouble maker. Napoli did a number on his reputation. My concern with Osimhen is that he may not be the type of striker for us. He looks like a better version of Nunez from highlight reels. But our strikers need to operate in tight spaces and knit our attack together. They need to be able to dance with the ball and I don’t think Osimhen is that. Then there is the fact that we might loose him and Salah for six weeks during winter.

What are these Oshimen red flags we keep mentioning..? Is he ‘just’ a bit of a knob with his teammates, or are we talking Party / Greenwood levels here?
