Vlaar & Delph

Tough window for the owners this one. Do they back to the hilt the Rodgers that got them to second last season or play cautiously with the guy whose summer signings have largely struggled? Do they consider Rodgers to be their man long term or do they hold something back on the basis they might be bringing somebody new in before the summer? On balance, if it was my money I wouldn't be looking at levels far above Delph and Vlaar...at least as things stand.

When you're trading, you can keep the bulk of your capital tucked away and trade with an "imaginary" working capital. In this case, I'd be looking to keep hold of the money and play this out as an "imaginary" transfer.

With all the statisticians at the club, it shouldn't be a problem to substitute out Henderson's figures for Delph's and recalculate the results. Then you make the promise to Rodgers that you'll judge him on the recalculated results.

Both mid table level players. Getting them would show no ambition whatsoever. Rodgers can keep buying all the CB's he wants but until he changes our system we'll still keep looking vulnerable at the back.

Do we need Delph? He is a typical CM right? We have quite a few of those. As for the last few windows, we need to address GK, DM, ST. Anything else is just window dressing at this stage.

Delph is good young player and would a very decent addition to the squad, Vlaar on the other hand is more of a meh signing

Delph is this season's Cleverly i.e. he's getting media attention, he's got international recognition and (most importantly) he's a hugely average mid-table CM'er at best.

I think most people know I don't rate Lucas but I wouldn't swap him for Delph.

If its one of the 2 or 3 good games Lucas plays a season maybe, but generally Lucas is pretty poor. He lacks the strength or positional sense to be a proper DM, hes not a good passer and he offers nothing going forward, hes disciplined and energetic but thats it

That's sorta my point; Lucas is poor but he's better than Delph.

bullshit.

Do not fear, if we are that stupid as to sign Delph, then it will be to play him alongside Lucas in a new and improved midfield.
